What size spinning reel for 6-12 lb. line?
My poor old Daiwa Tierra 2500 has worn gears and grinds and now I need to replace it. I was wanting something with similar castability. I was looking at the Daiwa Lexa and Procyon but can't decide if I should get the 2000 or 2500 size. The reel will go on a super light NRX 852s. What would you guys recommend? The reel will most likely be used in both fresh and brackish water.

Daiwa certate hyper custom 2500

Go with a 2500 size. You'll have greater line capacity which will be helpful when fishing those bigger lines.

I wouldn't go smaller than a 2500 for 12 lb. test monofilament line. I wouldn't try 12 fluorocarbon even on that.

x3 on the 2500 size
I go with the 3000 size shimano since the only difference is spool size and handle, you can also add a bearing/bearings
the the 3000 size shimanos reels..

2500 for me. Just the "right in the middle" size.
