TD Luna 103 - 1 Down 2 to Go

Post by JoeyBones » Sat Jan 03, 2015 8:24 am

Thanks to some Tackle Tour inspiration, I finally have one of my three Luna 103s set how I think I like it best (so far!). The second reel is coming along too, but the high-dollar additions (spool & handle) will need to wait for a bit.

I know it's nothing outrageous by TT's high standards, but it's just about my ideal bass reel (I'm a round reel sucker).

This one has:

- 6.8 PX-R gear set
- RCS 1016 spool
- Hawg Tech 90mm CF handle

I'll put some ceramic spool bearings in at some point, and maybe a Smooth Drag Carbontex washer set...

Thanks for looking.

Regards,

Bones

Thanks much - Those are Hawg Tech corks... Just the basic ones they include w/ the handle/bearing/knob set that they sell. The positive is that Shimano knobs will fit this handle, so I do have some options when it comes time to replace them.

Regards,

Bones

I too like your "creation". In the past I thought about picking up a Luna but I'm a Shimano guy so I never did but I still appreciate them.

Very nice. I suggest you pull the trigger on the Carbontex. The bearing upgrade won't be nearly as noticeable. If they made the Luna in silver I would own one for sure. I'll eventually get a Ringa or Ryoga 1016 (or Lin 10 if I go bonkers or win a lottery).

Sharp, nice upgrades. Upgrade the bearing and drag on a least one and let us know what you think.
