G. Loomis E6X 884 SWB / Loomis Paddletail rod

Post by DChiWildcats » Wed Jun 10, 2015 7:34 am

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the new E6X 884 SWB rod or IMX 904 SWB? I am looking for a Loomis that I can use on 3/4 oz. swim jigs with a 5 inch swimbait slow rolled as well as Bass Trix, Trash Fish, and other paddletail swimbaits. I'm sure my NRX 873 and NRX 894 would be awesome but I am interested in a cheaper Loomis option. Any experience with the E6X 884 or IMX 904?

I have no experience with either of those rods you mentioned, however, I do use a G Loomis SWBR 953 for the lures you described and it cast and fishes them perfectly. I sold or traded in almost all my lower end G Loomis rods to upgrade to NRX, but this was one of the few I just couldn't part with (it just fishes Paddletails that well). I think it might be worth a look. (Sorry for the unsolited rod recommedation, but I did keep it in the G Loomis family)

How does the 953 perform with the huddleston weedless grass minnow/shad if you don't mind me asking? Do you think it could handle the hudd gill too? I would think that a 6 inch hudd would be too much but the hudd gill or a real prey perch would probably be the top end of it's range?
