Can the steez hold up

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Can the steez hold up

Post by capesmallie » Fri Dec 11, 2015 10:37 am

Hastily bought a steez ex 100 on close out. Original thoughts were to put it on a diablo spec r and use it for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. 95% 3/8 - 3/4 oz ,chatterbaits with big paddle tail trailers. How will the steez hold up to the constant strain from the chatters? Starting to think a conquest 200 would have been a better choice.

Those are great reels. You'll have to work really hard to wear them out.
They will handle fishing chatterbaits all day just fine.

Shouldn't be an issue at all, those reels can really take a beating.

It is amazing how much we worry about our equipment holding up, when most of the failures are due to us, like forgetting to grease your gears and oil your bearings once a year, and stepping on rods or hitting them on the TM when we're using them.
The equipment today is built to such close tolerances, and with such good quality control, if we take care of it, it should last damn near forever.
I have 20+ year old reels that still work, and a 50 year old Roddy rod and reel combo that still works, bought with Blue Chip stamps, and fished in both fresh and salt, way back when.

I agree with Mark. I have had one of my Steez for about 5 years and it is still solid. I use it for reaction baits including chatterbaits. I have it service every year just to have it cleaned out and new oil and grease and it is still golden. Of course Daiwa is a stones throw away from my office so it works well for me. =D> =D>
