BFS Under $300

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

BFS Under $300

Post by Draethe84 » Sat May 28, 2016 6:06 pm

Hey guys, a friend recently asked me if I knew of a decent BFS reel In a budget between $250 and $300. So I turned to my handheld information bank {tackletour on my phone} and asked What a decent BFS reel under $300 would be?

Hi,
Take a Look in the Shimano Brenious , for ne it is a very nice bfs reel for arround 230$ ...
I own 3 of them and fishing them Ultra Light in 0.5 - 5g JDM MFS Rods. I like that reel very much.
Actually i have some Brenious, Aldebaran MG7 , Curado I, Scorpion 70, Scorpion DC, Exence DC , Chronarch CI4 , Casitas 151 and Casitas MGL 101 but i like the brenious the most.

In you like i can take you someone pictures

50e with an avail spool would be the most capable cheaper reel. The air reels are great and are a notable improvement over the pixy and its spool options. The China air spools may change that but quality seems to be hit and miss it seems. Also it really depends on how light you truly want to go.

When you say under $300, does that include shipping? You can get the new BFS XG or the BFS XG Limited for under $300 plus shipping.

The T3MX with the DIY air Spool for sale on here would be an excellent choice.

That does sound like a good idea because then he has a fantastic all around reel with a sweet BFS setup.

Haibo Smart with DIY spool will run you $120. You'll get 2 spools with the reel plus the DIY for a total of 3 spools. Great value. I've fished this reel side by side to my Alphas Sv 105 with the Diy spool and performance is almost identical. The Alphas is way smoother and refined but if you just want to be able to cast lighter stuff on the cheap then go with the Haibo. By the way, the Haibo is the same reel as the Ardent extreme. Just half the price.

If I had only $300 max to spend it would definitely be a REVO ALC. 141 grams. 6.3 gram spool weight(without bearing). Dont think anything under $300 is gonna touch it for light lures.
