2017 Daiwa TWS X Tough

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Anyone see the video on the Daiwa FB page? Curious what other TWS reel they have coming out.

There are some rumors floating around. One is an aluminum Steez SV TW, the other is an SV Tatula on the original Tatula frame. If somebody can capture a screen shot at 2:10 on that YouTube video - I don't want to fight with the picture loader.

I can see the alleged Steez SV TW Aluminum near the end of the video. One would think a Z of some sort would be in the conversation of "Tough". I don't really see the Tatula SV being anything special unless it is priced right. That platform is a good bang for your buck platform. Good for mid to heavier baits. I don't really see the benefit of that platform having the SV spool unless it is priced right.

Please...for the love of God...have a Steez SV TW in at LEAST 9.1 with a 90mm or greater handle. Having those tiny 80mm handles are not worth the weight savings. At least bring the 9.1 Zillion TWS SV over from Japan. I have that reel and I love it.

im guessing it has something to do with another tatula variant. They are re doing the tatula line of rods which can also be seen in the video. Wouldn't surprise me if the reels followed suit. A non-SV Zillion CT TWS would make sense too if it's following the "x tough" theme. I think the steez at the end of the video was the steez SV TW currently but shown on the new Tatula rods. Who knows.

Could be, I didn't look too much into it. I am about done getting fishing stuff (what I tell myself). I have had less of a desire for reels and put more emphasis into the rods. I usually sell something to try something else. My reels I have at the moment are sufficient enough. The resale value isn't great on what I have for the most part. Would I sell my 9.1 Zillion SV TW to help fund a Steez SV TW of the same speed? Who knows? I see the performance gain of the Steez (if the 9.1 was made) to not be worth the extra money I'd have to fork out. I have no qualms with the Zillion right now. Could it be lighter? Yes. Could it be smoother? Yes. Smaller? Yes. There will always be the pursuit of perfection but it comes at a price and sometimes, you have to ask yourself if the price is worth it. I still have T3's I use because the performance I get with them (outfitted with extra bearings and SV spools), is worth more to me than the resale value. Fetching maybe 150 from selling a used T3 with an SV spool and upgrades isn't worth it to me. I'd rather keep it.

I have a T3 that isn't even being used at the moment. I downsized my lineup and I have no need for the reel but selling it for the meek price you get for T3's is not worth it to me. I am almost tempted to add another setup to my lineup just to use it. Super underrated reels at the price you can get them for today.

Magforce z Steez TWS? Hopefully this is a mistranslated Magforce 3D Steez TWS. The translated page was vague at best.

If not then bench seeds. Bench seeds it all to heck.

Looks like a "Tougher" version of the Steez SV TW. Bigger T wing and Z brake. Its probably a tune of the SV spool to tailor to heavier baits i.e. stiffer spring. Looks to still have a zero adjusting CCC as well. Not to mention the longer handle with the rubber "Tatula" knobs. Probably is made from aluminum as well.

Clicking drag would be cool.

I don't think there will be anything faster then 7.1 or 7.3 in the Steez TWS SV in the near future.. bigger handle yes as they need it..
