Torzite grooving?

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

Hi,

I apologize for bringing up old topic but did not find a final resolution to this topic as I was interested in the Torzite guides but weighing true benefit in relation to the ridiculous price.

Anyone experience disadvantages in the Torzite guides plus advantages that would change the price from ridiculous status?

Thanks!

I wonder why St Croix chose to use them on their newly introduced Legend Elite rods?

I've been using them on a couple NRX rods and my new custom K2, and have had no issues out of them at all. They are very expensive, but a high dollar rod deserves the best components IMO.

I alsoi have been using them on lots of rods since they appeared, and had no issues so far.

There might be batches of guides with glue on the ceramic, and those might show a false grove if the adhesive is not removed, but the TORZITE will not groove.

I've also had no issues with the Torzite guides on my factory K2 with about half a season of usage with fluoro. That said, I build all my rods with SIC's still because I still can't justify the cost of Torzites.

This post was started over a year ago and we are still waiting patiently for ANY TORZITE guide on ANY rod from anywhere on the planet to be sent back to the factory or to us here in the USA with evidence of grooving. Bantam's post may have been sincere, but the information he conveyed was obviously from a source that had some other agenda.

Just as I was hearing of good things on torzite. Any updates on this topic?

No grooving here. Fishing dirty, muddy freshwater rivers and inshore saltwater.
