What kind of finish is on that reel seat? I like it but was wondering about it's scratch resistance. Not that I would beat up a rod like that.

The finish on the reelseat is a special edition finish offered by Fuji on some of their seats. There are a variety of colours, but Cal did choose the nicest one. It is very durable, and under normal fishing conditions, it should be fine. I wouldn't say it was scratch proof though. Something sharp and applied with force could likely scratch it, and I would expect the tip of the trigger to wear through over time if it is left to slide around on the bottom of a boat.5bites wrote:What kind of finish is on that reel seat? p.s. Thanks to all for the compliments!!

Oops I missed ur reply Cal. Thanks for the info.Cal wrote:Matt, actually, the rod is surprisingly comfortable to use. It probably helps that the CB843 is a very soft blank. If I were cranking deep divers all day, it might be an issue. Mark and I were going after more the look of the rod more than anything else anywaymatrix wrote:Gotta love the body tilt on the Dorum
Cal, I've always wondered abt solid grip rods....does ur casting hand hurt after a while?

KBT,kbookert wrote:Cal I have the same HMNG Duct Popper. Have you had a chance to use it? I threw mine a few times to check out the action of it. I am going to give it some more work this weekend. I have a two day tournament on Clark's Hill.
Yeah.. I actually bought it in both sizes. I've thrown the larger one, just to check it out and am actually a little disappointed in the action. I like my poppers to make a nice "bloop" sound and this one doesn't do that. I'm sure it'll work though. The splash it makes is more natural than that "bloop" to which I'm accustomed, but I didn't really buy them to fish.

They are not very common. I got Cal's from Summer Moon, who is a dealer for Merrick Tackle. Merrick also carries a variety of coloured doo-dads like winding checks, butt plates and trim rings in different annodized colours.5bites wrote:Thanks for the info catchem! Wow Catch that is a great looking rod... I've been playing with the rod building stuff but not even close to that one - awesome. One question I have is that I've been trying to make my own decals but no luck. I was wondering if the ink used is metallic ink??? This area is a mystery to me. Anyway, a beautiful rod, I wish I had that type of talent. I suppose I need to find a rod smith to enhance, learn, and build upon my rod building endeavors, eh – great job.
