My UL Spybait Challenge
Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
Dumb question, do the props spin on the vertical fall or only on the steady retrieve ?

Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
In my pool testing, I've noticed there is a little bit of prop spin as the bait falls.

Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
I did a real test the other day and in just 3 casts I caught my first bass on the bait.
I used a Saros 1000 w/ 3lb Nanofil on a Kuying 7" ML Topcaster to throw the 1 5/8" single hooked bait.
The 12" largemouth didn't hurt the bait at all. I intend to fish this bait on a lighter rod but this is what I had with me at the time.

Wow. Those look great.

I suspect that the willingness and skills to "do it yourself" are dwindling in the population. It's inspiring to see this level of work!

Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
I finished these three yesterday. I ran out of props. So they will likely be the last for a bit as I move on to tying hair jigs and float n flies for the fall.

It's been a while, what are your thoughts on the inline single hooks ?
I for one like them in certain applications and will continue using them.

Re: My UL Spybait Challenge
I've noticed that for sinking type lures like this and blades, they are really good and don't tend to tangle braid. I had a couple of guys testing these for me and the thing that they kept saying was that braid line got caught up in the treble points or barbs pretty consistently. I've noticed this as well. I recommend either using a leader or straight fluoro or Nanothin with the treble hooked baits. I didn't notice that issue with the singles though. I also don't think I miss fish on the singles, I would assume some people might think that.
