BPS and Cabelas
So I got a job at Cabelas in the fishing department and had a question for you guys.
What is all the BPS/Cabelas name brand gear that is worth picking up?

im pretty happy with carbonlite 2.0 reels. not as thrilled with the 79.97 sale on them when every model was out of stock & not available for backorder though.....

If fishing for trout or white bass or white perch, I like the XPS inline spinners.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish
Re: BPS and Cabelas
I have some of the cabelas guidewear rain gear and it's fantastic.

I like their fluorocarbon.
Re: BPS and Cabelas
They use to have these xps drop shot worms that’s now discontinued. Worked really well here on the west coast drops shottimg for halibut.
Re: BPS and Cabelas
if you like flinging flies, cabelas CGR fiberglass rods have many good reviews. i've got two of the 5 wts, a 7' and a 7' 6". rods look great. fit and finish is fine. i'd like to have a need for the 7' 6" 7-8 wt rod. since you're on tackle tour you realize there's a spot for all three major materials from fiberglass to graphite to bamboo. all empty spots should be filled .

A lot of the XPS stuff is pretty good

I have a CGR that I bought on sale for $39. It's a gateway drug to higher end glass fly rods for sure. I now own a Barclay custom and all I can say is wow. There's no finer dry fly rod for around here. http://cbarclayflyrods.com/fiberglass-fly-rods/nctrucker wrote:if you like flinging flies, cabelas CGR fiberglass rods have many good reviews. i've got two of the 5 wts, a 7' and a 7' 6". rods look great. fit and finish is fine. i'd like to have a need for the 7' 6" 7-8 wt rod. since you're on tackle tour you realize there's a spot for all three major materials from fiberglass to graphite to bamboo. all empty spots should be filled .

I compared their tackle bags to others and thought their Advanced Angler bags were good, in fact I paid full price
All their stuff needs to be bought at discount though. Everything is priced at absolute max msrp

x2 on the Guideware. Hopefully BPS doesn't ruin a good thing like they did with the MT050 hunting line.
Re: BPS and Cabelas
I have thought about getting a part-time job there for extra income and of course the discount. I was told 40% off house brand merchandise, and I would probably spend as much or more of my check on clothing/outerwear. They have some pretty killer house brand duds.

I like their clothing, especially their pocket T's. Their ammo sales are pretty good, also.KP Duty wrote:I have thought about getting a part-time job there for extra income and of course the discount.
