Finesse jig and light texas rig rod for 3/16 - 1/2oz
Looking for a rod to pair with my MB Destroyer FMJ for the lighter end of the jig/t-rig spectrum.
It will be used primarily for 1/4 - 3/8oz jigs and 3/16 - 3/8oz texas rigs. Secondary duties would be for small swimbaits like fat impact on weighted swimbait hook, or 3/8oz - 1/2oz jighead.
Originally was set on Conquest 843C MBR but after reading some comments on here I think it may be overpowered for what I want to do with it. Would the Conquest 842C MBR be better suited? I was also looking at the MB Destroyer Daemos but I know it's meant for more horizontal "reaction style" presentations, and it may also be overpowered.
What do you guys think? Help me spend some money

I wouldnt think the Conquest 843c would be too much. I used one that that same technique.
I sold mine because I felt it was a lot of money that a custom could do the same job for less money.

I just got the Braillist and it is right in the range you are looking for at a F5.5. I was pitching a 3/16 TX rig with a 4" roboworm pitching craw and it was right in the wheel house.

I believe that I also read that the Conquest 843 was more powerful then the GLX 3-Powers, if so then the GLX ones might be a better fit for you. I have a FMJ paired up with a mbr783 GLX. A "1/4oz" jig will weight around 1/2oz once you add the hook, skirt, weed-guard, and trailer, and the mbr783 GLX that handles them very well and covers everything lighter then the FMJ is ideal for. It's a great rod for everything I have tried with it other then presentations that want a twitch or pop.jerkbait22 wrote: It will be used primarily for 1/4 - 3/8oz jigs and 3/16 - 3/8oz texas rigs. I have the Daemos/FMJ combo for the whole range of jig/TR and swimsuits. I think they complement each other well.

daemos sounds perfect for that.

NRX893 for me
Re: Finesse jig and light texas rig rod for 3/16 - 1/2oz
I fished a FMJ/mbr783 glx combo last season and they complement each other very well. I threw 1/4oz jigs on the 783 and 1/2oz jigs on the FMJ. I was pleased to see that a lot of the plastics I like to throw work well on both rods so I could pick one over the other just based on cover.
I recently traded my way into a mbr844 glx and can’t wait to see how it overlaps with my current duo.

+1 on the NRX 893, at least for the texas rig and jig weights.Black Haze wrote:Second thatjohnnybassboat wrote:NRX893 for me
I've never done swimbaits with it.

make that 4.
I have a mbr 843 glx. can be used for same purpose and with light braid similar to 893 but still not as good. Unless you have an objection to a 7'5 and 3.8oz rod, I am hard pressed to believe a better option on planet earth exists.
