Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
THAT is an effing bad ass knot, dude! I was just thinking I needed to try something new. Thanks for sharing! Hope it works with fluoro. Don't see why it wouldn't.
This is the way.
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
That knot is widely used in Europe. I've been using it at least 10 years with no unexplained breakages, other than with one line, which just didn't like being knotted with any knots!
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
The guy appears to fish for carp. They are notorious for long hard runs. I would think it's a pretty tough knot
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
I’m concerned with fluoro biting into itself on this knot. Anyone regularly use with fluoro?
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
Yes, it's no problem.
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
Awesome knot, super quick to tie and the hook stands straight out. I started using it last summer and haven't had any issues with 6 or 8 lb InvizX.

I have been using this knot with my drop shot rig and 6lb test floro and have not had any break offs at the knot.

Interesting, no lubrication need on the Balsax (line used in video)

That's a cool knot, it makes me want to try and see if an Alpine Butterfly knot would work in fishing line.

Simple dropper loop, OG and reliable. I've used them for years soaking cut bait, even toying around with plastics on protrusion leader and stuff. Never had a problem with this knot, same as others more wraps smaller diameter, less larger diameter. Quite simple and foolproof. It's fine with all line types.poisonokie wrote:Hope it works with fluoro. Don't see why it wouldn't.

Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
I’ve tried it with 6 and 8 lb test and find it seats into the hook eye gap, I didn’t fish it and wouldn’t trust it with smaller lines. I will be trying it with some heavier line for bubba-shotting.
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
Popular knot in Europe indeed. I’ve seen this knot in JohnnyRelease videos - he’s a guide in Germany who targets perch, walleye and pike. Definitely not just a carp knot. I’ve tied a similar dropper loop for halibut dropshot rigs, but for bass I still use a palomar - easier to get the knot to angle down as it rides on the line.
Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
I used it last year and had a bunch of break offs at the knot. I finally figured out this is what was happening . The line seats into the gap and breaks, at least with light lines.Bassforce1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 4:44 pmI’ve tried it with 6 and 8 lb test and find it seats into the hook eye gap, I didn’t fish it and wouldn’t trust it with smaller lines. Re: Interesting Take on Drop Shot Knot
Make the twists in the opposite direction so the line seats against the other side of the eye.
