I bought the reel for the spool and then decided the spool needed a deserving reel, so I built one.

Clean, sharp, and phenomenal. The TD-Z will ALWAYS be a classic, congratulations on making this one your own. Tell us about the tuning, internals, gears, etc!!

Gary, this one is simple really. Some HH bits and 6.3 og steez gears with carbontex drag washers. Zpi be spool with sic bearings.

Nice!
I have a basket case tdz all torn down ready for paint, was thinking a white pearl or metal flake... seeing yours confirms that is the color to go with.

Thanks, Forrest. I went with this color because it was left over from a Plymouth Barracuda repaint. I’m very happy with how it came out though.

The metal insert was removed from the housing and it was painted. I only fish fresh water and I have 2 others that are painted and so far they’ve held up for over a year.

Used to be every day occurrence to see TD Zs on Show and Tell, not so much now. Beautiful TD Z, thanks for the post.
