Jig/Frog Rod for Bank Fishing
Jig/Frog Rod for Bank Fishing
Budget is 300ish. I have a last gen Levante EMTF for lighter stuff /treble baits and I want to compliment it. That's the most expensive rod I own so I have no experience with "higher" end stuff. So far the Orochi XX Perfect Pitch, Alpha Angler Zilla & Exprides have caught my eye
Thanks

What about an Ish Monroe AGS frog rod? That's inside your budget and I bet it's a killer stick. I don't have one myself, but I know they're worth a look.
This is the way.

Find a 1st gen pp and call it a day. Rod is amazing!
Re: Jig/Frog Rod for Bank Fishing
Zilla for me. Rod loads a little deeper than the PP, so it should hold fish a little better. Ive got two, one for frogs and one for 3/8oz swim jigs, and could not be happier.

The Orochi XX Tour Versatile may be another contender.

The perfect pitch comes with huge reputation but I've not tried it.
Kistler Helium 3 7'3H is what I have tried/own that I would recommend.

Alpha Angler Zilla. That and the gen 1 XX EMTF are far and away my favorite "utility rods". Not much you cant do with them.Obz wrote:Zilla?smallies wrote:Zilla for me. yeah i really like the kistler h3 line and the 7'3 hvy is my favorite rod in the line up it would server well for your purpose, also cant go wrong with the perfect pitch which is also a great jig rod and good for frogs as well.

In the XX line, the choice is between the Perfect Pitch and the Tour Versatile. Both are capable jig and frog rods. If the cover you're fishing is heavy, I'd lean more toward the Perfect Pitch. if it's more sparse, the Tour Versatile being 2" shorter and a little lighter in power might suit you better for bank fishing and has additional versatility.

How is the Gen 2 TV vs the Gen 1 version? I had a Gen 1 and like it, but threw it out as a trade offer for a deal too good to pass up. I kinda miss it but have found little info on the new ones.bronzefly wrote:the Tour Versatile being 2" shorter and a little lighter in power might suit you better for bank fishing and has additional versatility.

It's similar in versatility and action. I feel like it has ever so slightly less power and it feels lighter in hand. It's a fantastic "do it all" kind of rod on the heavier side.Houndfish wrote:How is the Gen 2 TV vs the Gen 1 version? +1 for the H3!
I had the 7' heavy. Super light and very sensitive for the price. There are regular sales on the Kistler rods, so you should get it for even less.
Sold it though because I wanted a longer rod. I have Steez XBD Frog rod for myJig fishing now. Found it used in mint state for 270 USD.
