Megabass US Destoyer new models added to lineup

Post by M Perry » Wed Mar 20, 2019 12:09 pm

These drop the first part of April. I played with prototypes last fall and early in the year and loved them. I think there will be some happy folks with these new models.

F2.5-76XS Flyssa-taper:fast, lure rating: 1/16oz-3/8oz. Line rating 4-10lb- rod is ideal for sweeping hookets with light line, great for hair jigs, finesse swimbaits, deep water dropshotting. Great choice for Okashira Screwhead etc.

F4-74XS Brigand-taper:fast, lure rating:1/8oz -5/8oz, line rating 6-16lb. great for bottom contact presentations like the Dark Sleeper as well as football jigs, tubes and swingheads.

F4.5-71X Otomat-taper:regular, lure rating 1/4oz-3/4oz, line rating 8-20lb. Great rod for Dog X, Diamante, Giant Dog X and PopMax. Some may prefer it for crankbaits as well. In my use of the prototype it really stood out with topwater work as noted. It handles braid very well also.

F7.5-77X Bunker Buster- taper:fast, lure rating:3/4oz- 1 1/2oz, line rating 15-30lbs. Fills the gap in current lineup and shines on heavier jigs and Texas rigs in heavy cover.

F8-78X Mark 48- taper:fast, lure rating 1.5oz-5oz, line rating 20-40lb. Designed as a rod for smaller swimbaits like the 6" Magdraft and I Slide 185. Great castability distance wise, easier to roll cast and skip big swimbaits. Doubled footed guides the length of the rod.

Extrapolating from the rest of the lineup, I read the first two "XS" models as spinning.

I grew really, really partial to the Otomat for topwaters. Beat up some warm water power plant fish on it this past winter.

F 2.5 7’6. Might be a good hair jig / spy bait rod

Precisely what it was designed for sir. I'll have both spins in hand ASAP.

Please let the F4.5-71X Otomat not be a cranking stick!

tackle trap has them on the site and they give a brief description on the rod and what it was designed for. I dont think the otomat is a cranking stick it mentions it has a faster action with a soft tip for topwater walking baits, but it does mention it could be used for cranks for those who desire a faster action blank.
