Older Steez EX 100HS spool help ????

Post by Edward78 » Sat Jun 15, 2019 4:07 am

I just purchased used on eBay a Daiwa SS SV 103HL that came with a Steez EX 100 spool. I have 7.1 gears from a SS SV 103SHL that I'm going to install in it and plan to use this reel for topwater trebble baits like Wopper Ploppers, poppers and stick baits. What I would like to know is how does this spool perform and do you think it will work well for me throwing the baits I listed on 12 or 14 mono ? Thank you

It would perform best if you sold it to me.

I have a Steez EX that was tuned by Ian but it was good out of the box. However the 1016 G1 spool that I currently have in it is MUCH better.

That spool only gives you higher line Capacity at a larger diameter of line. IMHO.

Anything 5/16 oz or better and that spool is fine. It will bomb a Vision 110.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Thank you to everyone who responded, I used the reel for the first time this weekend and it cast better than expected.

Another vote for the 1016 spool. I run one in my Steez EX and totally changes the reel. It turns into a casting machine. Now if I could just find a purple 1016 spool to match my reel.

I’ve ordered purple parts and there seems to be more than one purple

I have two Steez EX's. Spool is fine for pike fishing as it takes plenty of 40-50lb braid.
