Rods/reels you regret not buying

Post by fishes » Fri Jul 19, 2019 11:59 am

I'm curious what rods and reels you all regret not buying and are no longer available (at least not new).

I've got a couple:
-the x7 super eiger, not only was I too late to the boat but now it seems people are holding onto them because it's been a struggle finding one for sale.

-I have a conquest 50dc but I wish I had bought a couple of them (and left-handed ones) when they were new. Still my favorite reel I own and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Ive pretty much found all my reels that were older somewhere that had a New In Box one. Sometimes you just have to be patient. Ive searched Ebay, BBC, here, etc. I almost just do it just to see what comes around for sale. Youd be shocked. Citica E, Conquest 50, 09Aldebaran, TDZs...all reels that have been out of production over 10 years, and all found New. Now, I buy new things that look appealing, and if I like them, I keep them. If I dont like them, I sell them. I dont live with regrets anymore, I just do whatever. It can be half the fun trying to find them. \:D/

I see 3 NIB 50DC's at a shop, but they are retail. All right hand. Around $465 with the going yen rate. You say these are worth owning?

i wish i had gotten a Destroyer X7 powerhouse, seems like it would be the perfect rod for a lot of the fishing that i do! i do love the 19 destroyer flyssa, still wish i would have gotten that powerhouse.

Any of the earlier 2004 to 2008 Circa Shimano baitcasters like the Chronarch D's and the like. And stocking up on spares...

It's my favorite reel. Partly because of its size and ergonomics and partly for its performance. I bought mine new from japantackle for around that price

I wish I had gotten a few curado e's. Just love the look of them and have fond memories of the one I had

Those old curado's were tanks. The green reels were awesome.

A green & white Cardinal 3 back in the 80's when they were drying up. I saw one in a Chippewa Falls, WI bait shop and I just didn't want to spend the $35.

Megabass Great Hunting Trout Travel Baitcast rod was insanely cheap on Amazon.co.jo a year or so ago - I should have jumped the wagon.
