The Antares of BMX Bikes

Post by Aquaftm45 » Sat Jul 27, 2019 11:08 am

For any of those who fit into the age range of the prime BMX era (for me it was '80-84), you might be able to appriciate this brand and particular specimen. Even though I raced a PK Ripper, I always admired my friends Kuwahara. I am not sure how much exposure the brand had in the US, but it was quite popular in Saudi Arabia where I spent my mid teen years. Oil packed sand as the primary medium, made for some of the coolest racing surfaces (and golf courses). When I returned to the states, the PK Ripper took up the task of conveying me for miles and miles around town to the best fishing spots. Might need to pick this one up and slap some bear traps on it to cart me and the new Antares around town just for old times sake...

Ah yes. Great bikes. You wanna look into BMX history, check out bmxmuseum.com . I have a couple S&M Dirtbike builds on there. Still have my yellow one.

With a name like Redline, I figured...

This 100th anniversary edition is only sold in Japan. JDMTackleheaven said he would snipe one for me. I told him to stop responding to my facebook messages.

Ah yes, I remember those, the only problem I had was I broke quite a few of those rims in my day.

Here is a picture of a Stormer almost identical to mine. The original Tuff wheels broke less that the newer (bigger hubs) version. I probably put 10,000 miles on that bike. It was a tank. More like an OG Zillion!
