Thats a great price for a rod. Honestly, for that money, you cant lose. I had a M F Defy a while back that I used for my BFS, but my friend wanted it, so I ended up with a Dobyns Sierra 682. I would buy one of these if I was looking.

Too bad no casting rods in that lineup
Re: 13 fishing defy silver
It seems like these have been out for a while now Too bad there really isn't much out there in terms of feedback for this line up of defy. The silver has different polished SS guides instead of the zirconia on the black series otherwise they look to be similar builds

The price isn't bad and it might fit the bill for my daughter. She has a 4'6 ml/F ambition from 13 fishing paired with a size 25 president that works well for the price. However, for a little more, the Daiwa presso or old model procyon may be a better option. Hmm

Blains farm supply had them for $37.99 so it is tempting to try them

Re: 13 fishing defy silver
I wish I could find something on these rods. There just isn't any info.
Re: 13 fishing defy silver
I emailed their CS asking the rod weights and connection type. They replied saying the weight was on the product page and they're the same connection as any other 2 piece rod.
...
I think I'll look elsewhere.

Re: 13 fishing defy silver
I looked at the reviews from TW and more than a few mentioned the rods breaking around the 2nd guide from the tip......I'd stay away.
Re: 13 fishing defy silver
Ehhh. I have an Omen black that broke at the same spot. Even though the warranty process was smooth, I never warmed up to it since.
My kids ambition rod has held up fine and totally worth its low price but never really seen much use since she hasn't been out with me much recently.
I'll pass on this one. Looks like the presso may be it. Or possibly roll the dice on the kuying Teton....

Re: 13 fishing defy silver
If it is any help, I have a pair of US Presso UL's a 5-6 and a 6-6 and they have been fine.
I also have a bunch of Kuying rods including 4 Tetons.......no issues with them at all.
Good luck!!

Ooh OK... I have some questions regarding the presso
Do you have the 2 or 4 piece?
How are the connections?
True to their ratings and action?
As sensitive as a $60 rod can be?
Would you buy again?

Re: 13 fishing defy silver
Both are 2pc.
The ferrules are pretty small and comparable to most modern multi pc rods.
Mine are both definitely UL. I'm not sure sensitive and UL can exist in the same rod.
I can feel bites but not like a high carbon count graphite rod......the action is moderate, and I'd say accurate for a UL rod.
Would I buy them again??? I got both for about 45.00 ea new with tags on eBay. If I was looking for a UL rod to put at my cabin, I would buy them again.
I have a special love for the Fenwick RR rods. I have a 5-8 UL that I think is better than just about any other I've fished. So as a travel rod or a rod you won't miss if you leave it at your cabin or lake house or are on a budget.......the Presso's are perfect. If I was going to fish with it twice a week, I'd opt for something higher end.
Re: 13 fishing defy silver
Thank you for the write up!
I had the first and second gen RR and while it was an excellent stick, ul was never my primary way to fish due to the feisty exotics we run into down here. I'd have to wear some of them out pretty good before getting close to shore.
My go to is a ml/f avid x paired with a stradic 1000 fk that does everything I want it to... within reason of course. Great balance of finesse with just enough backbone.
$45 a piece sounds like a good deal. I'll keep an eye out for a bit to see if I can find a similar price before picking one up.
