Most specific chatterbait rod

Post by Fran87 » Tue Jul 30, 2019 2:50 am

Hi Sirs,

I'm looking for a most specific 1/2 chatterbait rod, some Pros are using hybrid rod (carbon/glass) in MH power as the best... The Serval from EG is one of those rods although its rated for crankbaits...so Its difficult to choose. Now I'm using stallion RS limited and its fine but if there are better options with better performance I would like to try it.

Anybody has tried the Serval or hybrid rod for chatterbaits ?

Thank you very much in advance.
Regards

Considering enthusiast level gear, I've been extremely impressed with the Megabass Valkyrie 71MH as a 1/2 oz. vibrating jig rod among other things it excels with.

Thank you very much Sirs.

Leopard its too heavy, I've sent a private message to some Serval's owners members that I seen in the past but no answer yet. I wouldn't like get away of Evergreen brand... but i aprecciate these others options.

Thankss!!

I'm using a KLX Feel N Reel 7'3" Heavy. This thing has boatloads of power and and incredible tip. I feel it's the perfect 1/2 oz chatterbaits rod for me. If I was fishing less grass and cover or fishing the 3/8 chatterbaits I'd use the medium heavy.

It's glass composite model

Rod weight 110g
Lure 10-35g
Regular fast taper
7'3MH

I throw 1/2oz Jack Hammers a crazy amount of time and have used composites in the past but just do not like their extra weight nor the slow action. The finest open water to mild grass bladed jig rod I’ve ever used and continue to use is a G-rod Pro Bass 7’ Med/Hvy. Awesome tip to backbone transition and with the addition of Graphene sandwiched into the blank its insanely powerful and sensitive. If you like JDM looks, it has them. Weighs 4.6ozs. Read the Tackle Tour review in the archives. Know that they changed the hook keeper since that article, which was a gripe. If it’s something that may interest you, the problem will be procuring one. They’re always sold out. A call to G-rods directly might help source one

The Power Versatile is a great chatterbait rod

Couple options for 3/8 - 1/2 oz chatterbaits

My preferred chatterbait rod is the MB Black Jungle Deep Cranking Slow Rolling, but I've also had success using a Gen 1 MB XX DSR... Recently sold a 736 CB Glass Dobyns and it was solid as well, was probably better then either of the MB rods in the heaviest of cover with it's 6 power rating, but I prefer the MB rods for everything else.

I use the Expride 73mh cranking rod and it's perfect for chatterbaits. It's the older model not the new 72mh glass expride.
