Jbraid grand issues
I am using 30lb jbraid grand for inshore fishing, however it has not impressed me. It is digging in the spool horribly and the weave is horribly loose. I love the original jbraid and had high hopes for this, anybody else seen issues that were similar or did I get a bad spool?
Re: Jbraid grand issues
I've not tried the grand, but the 8 and 4 strand J braids are loosely woven and unpleasant to use in my eyes. Cheap is cheap.

I have noted that JBraid Grand is softer then J-Braid and easier to separate the braids when pinching a small section and pushing it together.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

I stripped all the grand off my reels, went back to x8. It's a fluffier, looser weave, and I don't like it.

I was curious about x8 Grand so I did a search, these are the two best posts I found

I remember a hangnail unraveled 2 feet of the PP SS...I'd say Grand is a touch, a hair, fluffier than original x8 J braid...I might prefer the original x8 slightly more, but I'm not about to strip the reels I already spooled with Grand.

I recently won a spool of 40lb, which was removed after one outing. The line itself was flat, bled green everywhere and also dug into the spool quite badly.

I'm thinking they must have QC issues, the 30lb blue I was using and stripped off was fluffy and not woven tightly. I have a spool of the grey light color and it is much tighter woven. I haven't tried the green color but the other ones haven't bled.

I have a couple of reels spooled with the grey 20# and it's really nice. Smooth, tightly woven, doesn't bleed, easy to get backlashes out, but not prone to backlash.doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 8:00 amI'm thinking they must have QC issues, the 30lb blue I was using and stripped off was fluffy and not woven tightly. This is the way.

Yes, the Island Blue is fluffier than the grey...but they are both fluffier than x8!doomtrprz71 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 8:00 amI'm thinking they must have QC issues, the 30lb blue I was using and stripped off was fluffy and not woven tightly. Well that makes me feel better about the grey I'm going to try out soon, I have another spool of blue so I'll try it as well and see if its any better than the previous spool.
