7.9:1 Gear

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

7.9:1 Gear

Post by goldrod » Wed Aug 14, 2019 5:24 am

This seems to be that special gear ratio.
Most of my contacts have swapped gear sets with this gear ratio
Maybe it’s the durability of them but I’m not sure.

You mean the brass 7.9 Steez gears? I had a new set in an IS73 and they weren't smooth at all. Your results may vary.....😁
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

the only set i have is in the ss sv reel and its super smoothe but one of my buddies is grabbing them up like they are the best thing
I have another buddy who loves them.. I dont have a preference for them but not opposed either. I just wonder if they are worth stocking up..

As you know I was thinking I could stuff the 7.9 into a TDZ
Glad you cleared that up for me. Lol
I laugh at it now

Those days are unfortunately over my friend... But what would I do for a 3.8:1 or 4.0:1 ratio or something along those lines into a modern day CU-K...

TD Zillion Crazy Cranker is 4.9:1 those gears will fit SS SV or into the Steez 100SH body, Not the 103H.

I know you like your shimanos but If you ever wish to try daiwa I am running a set of 4.9:1 gears from a catalina 100P BJ in my zillion HD. The current zillion HD CC is only 5.5:1. Catalina BJ gears are a direct swap into the zillion TWS line of reels and to me they are also more durable gears than what's in the zillions.

Nah I'm good bloke, I be nice to get some cut up to retrofit some of these high speed fidget spinners of mine, so including the Calais DC that has those whiny aluminium gears...
