Bantam MGL

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Does it keep its super smooth feeling?

I can't even find a yumeya shallow spool...
They are pricey and I surf looking for spools
You can not tell the difference between the stock and shallow spool. I personally prefer it’s line capacity

I like mine.

I am using it for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and other resistance baits. Really smooth and good power.

I wouldnt pair it up with an NRX. It deserves to be worked as Shimano designed it to do.
What gear ratio are you using? I want to order one for similar purposes, but I am hesitant about the small handle on all but the XG model. Do you feel the closely situated line guide hurts distance, as some others have posited?

I have the HG. I wish I had the XG when working buzzbaits. Other than that, the HG is fine for me.

I'm gonna put a 90mm curado k handle on mine I think.

I'm debating on getting the PG model...

Man I'm having troubles picking a gear ratio now....

Most all my reels are 6.2:1 and its about perfect but I kinda want to try either fast or maybe even slower

Just got a idea, maybe I will really go with the PG version and if I don't like it I will purchase a higher gear ratio from Shimano.

Perfect, I got that bearing and knob bearings ready to go.

It looks like a easy change on the level wind, it uses a screw....weird

A aluminium retaining plate as there is no access to the other side of the worm shaft to lock it into the frame.
