Bearings

Post by prybis » Thu Nov 14, 2019 8:28 am

I am looking to change out the bearings in my Revo4 S and SX4. Was looking on Aliexpress, Hedge Hog, and Boca. Hedge Hog has the Air BFS bearings on sale for about $26. Hybrid bearings are about $10 on Aliexpress. Boca ceramics are about $52. I have seen people say not to cheap out when it comes to bearings. Does it really make that much of a difference? If it matters, I have put a BFS spool in each of these reels. Thanks.

It makes a difference when casting lighter baits.

I would run either hedgehog or ZPI and stay away from cheap bearings...

Yep, careful what you buy. I have been running HawgTech for quite some time. Knowing the guys personally, I know the source of them.

This. Fifty-two bucks for a set of Bocas?? [-X

IMO it makes a difference with all baits, especially when casting/pitching/skipping for accuracy. Every cast is just smoother, easier, and more fluid. Plus there's the longevity factor that ceramics provide.
This is the way.

Got that off the Boca site. Let me know where I can get them cheaper. Need 5*11*4 and 3*10*4 for each of my reels.

I would buy either HH Air, Air HD, or ZPI ceramics from the Tackle Trap.

They have Bocas, too.

If you go HH, the Airs are for casting UL-M baits up to around 3/4oz and max out at 1oz. The HD's will go from very light (not quite as light as the Airs) to presumably as heavy as you want to go. The Air bfs bearings have micro balls like the original airs, but are steel instead of ceramic and are for BFS use only, like below 1/2oz.

The ZPI's are super nice for general bass use, too.
This is the way.
