Higher End Rods

Post by rtb83 » Wed Dec 11, 2019 8:03 am

I just ordered a Metanium MGL and I want to get a higher end rod for it. I am looking at getting into the Megabass line, what are some suggestions of rods I should look at from any of the better companies. I have a couple of G-Loomis and high end Kistler rods.

I'm thinking a jerkbait topwater rod. I have a Kistler KLX Crank, Rip and Twitch for that purpose but the tip is a lot softer than I expected.

I know you mentioned Megabass but the Shimano Poison Adrena and Expride are both excellent rods. They will match visually and performance wise. The Expride has more models and the silver accents in the rod would look sharp with the Metaniums paint.

And an absolute beast on the water. Subjective, but I like it better than any MB rod I've owned. I have a Metanium DC on one. Sick combo. This rod just comes alive when you cradle it.

You might want to take a look at the Megabass US Destroyer Oneten Special for jerkbaits and the Destroyer Otomat for topwaters. Both are great in their respective applications.

I use a GLX 842 for jerkbaits and love it.

I think a Shimano Expride 6’10 M or Poison Adrena 6’11 M+ would look awesome and serve you well

I'm really leaning towards the poison now, but at the price of the expride and the amount of guys talking highly of them, I might have to get one or two to replace some lower end rods I have.

I have 4 Expide rods and love them, very nice rods for the money.
