Glass tipped rods?

Post by fishes » Sat Jan 11, 2020 4:16 pm

Im looking at a few glass tipped rods (the poison glorious xc series and the poison glorious 166l-g). Im really really hesitant to pull the trigger though because of my experiences with glass rods. The only glass rods ive used have been pretty sloppy feeling and lacked any sort of crispness.

Does anyone have experience with glass tipped rods, especially jdm ones? Are they really sloppy? Is sensitivity compromised?

Glass tipped rods are usually a lot lighter than a full glass rod. I doubt that you are ever going to get a glass tipped rod that is really crisp or sensitive though. They are a lot better than some of the old school full glass rods, but you are asking for a dump truck that corners well.

Does anybody specifically have experience with any of the Shimano Japan glass tipped rods?
