What are you Skipping with?
What are you Skipping with?
Still a technique that I have yet to master. Thinking about going to a shorter rod and just going for glory. In any case I’d like to know what your setup is for skipping and what is your lure of choice ?

Re: What are you Skipping with?
I like using Strike King Structure Jigs. I like being on the heavier side (including plastic) of the rods rating to get the rod really participating.
Most of my skipping has been with Daiwa SV reels.
My jig rod is a 7'6" MH mod fast Legend Elite.
I also skip a lot with my K2 714.
Using the rod tip to control the "plane" of the lure helps me. I have been meaning to make a video of it in a how-to skip video...then winter happened

Certainly understood. It’s cold today here in Florida as well.

Re: What are you Skipping with?
Poison Adrena 6’11” and any Daiwa reel with SV spool.
Baits - depends of the situation, mostly jigs, swimbaits, Senko.

Funny you should mention this particular rod. I recently used it to fish wacky rigged senko style baits and skipping became my next thought

Re: What are you Skipping with?
I will say, cold weather in Florida shuts the fishing down way more than a cold front up north.goldrod wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 11:31 amHobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 11:20 amI like using Strike King Structure Jigs. Re: What are you Skipping with?
I primarily skip with Texas rigs and jigs. I do it currently with a glx 853c and alphas sv 105. Honestly I would prefer a shorter rod and eventually plan on getting a medium heavy rod in the 6'3"-6'6" range for skipping and close range casting/pitching
Re: What are you Skipping with?
SV reels are the ticket for skipping. I do jigs and weighted plastics on my glx854c/sv103. weightless on my Diablo 68xti/sv105p.
