Does anyone know where i can get/source a BFS Spool for the venerable 50XT? I have tried the Japanese sites and Ali Express.
I have also looked into Ebay but the spools there cost upwards of $500 which i don't want to spend for my $100 reel.
Thank you,
Daniel

Wow, I just looked at ebay and that's insane! I bought one of the avail spools back when they were still able to be had new for around 80 bucks, and I sold the complete reel with spool for around $160-170 a couple years later. Upgrading the bearings on the stock spool helped my casting capabilities with smaller baits, you may want to give that a whirl while you continue your search.

ss30378 I have replace the bearing on the spool shaft and the one in the mechanical break and the one on the opposite side of the frame with air bfs bearings from hedgehog, I suppose i am just trying to turn this project into my own "pixilla" esq, budget monster. Ive also ordered a different handle, the spool would be the crowning glory of this project i think.

How small a bait are you trying to cast with the XT?
Just curious as I've got a 50XT with HH Air BFS bearings (3), and its a weapon...

Re: Calcutta 50XT BFS Spool
Give it a shot... Its more to do with the cast supposedly.
I was casting these, weigh in at 1.4gr.
I've got a little Versus box and everything for BFS is 4gr or less. My Majorcraft Volkey BFS could do with a downgrade, especially now with all these lightweight BFS rods available now...
Give it a shot and have a look at the casting technique, polishing key parts etc before going to shallow spools and high costs.

Hey matey, curious what sort of handle you ended up grabbing. I’m thinking of swapping mine out also.Daltontribe wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 12:38 amss30378 I have replace the bearing on the spool shaft and the one in the mechanical break and the one on the opposite side of the frame with air bfs bearings from hedgehog, I suppose i am just trying to turn this project into my own "pixilla" esq, budget monster.
