Where do you put your Fuji EZ Keeper
Where do you put your Fuji EZ Keeper
I have always put mine just in front of the reel. Then I saw a pic of one mounted behind the reel on a split grip rod. It was like Why Did'nt I think of that. Seems to make more sense. Curious what you all think.

I've put them both in front and behind the reel. I always ended up poking myself with the keeper between the split grips though.

Same, I want the hook(s) in front of my hand while moving around.MountainMan 83 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 7:24 amI've put them both in front and behind the reel. I always ended up poking myself with the keeper between the split grips though.

I put mine in front of reel on the side anyway sometimes it catches line. Will try put it in the back.

In front of the label area of the blank, unless the label is too long. I usually position it on the left side or bottom of the blank. If the blank has a thinner diameter, I'll place it a little closer to the reel.

Same here, but always on bottom. It catches the line if I put it to either side.Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:04 amIn front of the label area of the blank, unless the label is too long. Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I am an odd ball, for me I felt they seemed perfect under the frame work of the first double footed guide on casting sticks.
Re: Where do you put your Fuji EZ Keeper
Just depends on the rod application: if the tackle is attached to the end of the line, the hook keeper goes on the main blank in front of the grip. I use treble covers for everything, so even if a rod sock slides over the tackle (let's say a jerkbait), it doesnt get tangled in the mesh.
If it's a dropshot rod, the keeper goes between the split grip so that the hook rides low enough (and doesn't get stuck in the rod sock - can't easily cover the hook point). Can't hook a DS weight into the actual Fuji EZ keeper, of course, but I'm including the Cali Clip Hook Keeper in this.

So funny because I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw this thread a while back. Hook keepers in front of the reel always find a way to snag your line, or get in the way. I put a zip tie on my full rear grip about halfway down. I've been doing this for about a decade.

Their perfectly fine when seated on the bottom of the rod from my experience. Never had an issue with them myself. I still prefer an integrated hook keeper, but so many are placed in poor positions. Obviously with custom rods, we can place them wherever we like.

Likewise. The O rings perished, went and got silicone O ri gs and they stretched and got all loose and lost a couple so off they went.
Never looked back on the mountable zip tie solution - had to import from the US a while back as no-one stocks them in Aus.
