Well, I finally lost it ...Was just in Walgreens.. Saw a man whose cart was FULL to the brim with hand sanitizers, baby wipes, soaps, toilet paper, everything that people need!! I called him a selfish *******, and gave him the low down about the elderly, moms, and people who need these types of things. Told him he should be ashamed of himself! He said: “Are you done?!! Cause I really need to get back to restocking the shelves now...”

A little humor to help the mood.

Went to Costco today, they had plenty of toilet paper today.

Locally they are only letting 40 people in at a time, I decided to wear my N95 mask to be safe.

Had quite a few people smirk while walking around with their 10 kids....whatever

It's getting a bit too real here... We're isolated as a country and now borders are being shut between the states and they're closing down "non essential" workplaces and industry...

Who'd have thought on 01012020 when my son was born that this would have happened just a month later... This is going to be testing for all...

Christ I need to go for a fish to wash the stress of it all away.

None of this Covid 19 stuff is funny but a smile once in a while helps.

I'm off for two weeks right now, but I don't think its gonna do much good at this point....

I could be in the minority but I think this is being blown way way way out of wack. Granted everyone is entitled to their opinion. I've seen enough false reporting, testing issues, and fear being spread. Hospitals and tents are empty guys not full. I've seen proof and also have family working at hospitals getting laid off. Covid has been around for a while now and the media weaponized it.

Thunderblack1984, I am no expert on US media, but I am an ID specialist, PhD, and coauthor on the Danish COVID-19 Rx guidelines. I have spent the past months working day and night, 7 days a week - seeing COVID patients in clinic, doing ward rounds, ICU rounds, writing guidelines, and giving many COVID lectures to hospital staff.....the few spare minutes and hours that I do have, I take pleasure in reading about my hobby and I have stolen an hour or two to go fish alone in local streams and rivers.

I myself am 41 years of age and I have been fortunate to avoid COVID so far. Some of my colleagues have not been so fortunate. Some have had few symptoms and some who are my age have been to hospital for several days.

It is not good to hear that your family members have gotten laid off. However, I am happy to hear that your hospitals and tents are empty - I hope it stays that way.

I also hope that you realise the seriousness of the situation. If you do not fully grasp what is going on then listen to the main US authorities on the matter, e.g. CDC, Anthony Fauci etc., and trust that they have an idea. Pick a few smart people and listen to what they say to remove all the noise. Suggestions below.

If you want to read more on how COVID could potentially hit the US in a “do nothing” scenario then read papers by N. Ferguson and the Imperial College COVID response team. Take a look at the figures in this report on page 7, 8 and 10.

https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/imperi ... 3-2020.pdf

Note, these are mathematical models - models, not facts - but certainly not guesswork either. In fact, Fergusons group have been pretty spot on with many of their predictions until this day.

If you really want to dive in, read all of Fergusons reports, and perhaps take a look at the work of some of the people he has worked with over the years, e.g. Miguel Hernan and Marc Lipsitch - epidemiologists and professors at Harvard and some of the smartest people I have met. They are not the media and they are not weaponizing anything...

Thankfully, the US and Trump is doing something, and your tents may remain empty. It will cost a lot of $ and people getting laid of work to keep tents empty, but the alternative is worse.

Dalleninf, I appreciate your response and have been able to filter out a lot of the noise so far :) I think the CDC and Anthony Fauci are a huge part of the problem honestly. I think they will be the ones to benefit from this whole " pandemic". We don't do this for the flu which killed 10 times the coronavirus (80,000) people last yr. The vaccines that will be untested and pushed out in short order will be scary as well. I feel Trump is doing a great job and does not get the credit he deserves. I do hope our hospitals stay clear as well and after all the false reporting I've seen the past few week I think they are blaming everything on Corona deaths to up the numbers. This is media fed. Fauci is a buddy of Bill Gates who believes in world population control. There is no way I trust any medical advice or vaccine Bill is trying to fund. I am not saying the virus does not exist but the numbers do not merit what the media is feeding. Just my 2 cents. I appreciate your response and hope you stay healthy!

Thunderblack1984.
To be honest, I do not care anything about your 2 cents. Just as you should not care about my 2 cents with regards to many issues that I know very little about. You should care about my 2 cents on COVID and you should listen to CDC and A. Fauci. Saying that they are part of the problem......honestly, I am doing my very best to stay civil...
I do not find that Trump is doing a great job. I very much agree with this opinion in Washington Post:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... dent-ever/
However, I find some comfort that:
1) Trump has a lot of intelligent people around him including the CDC and A. Fauci.
2) Trump does not decide what happens in each state in the US.
Trump does not equal USA and I am very happy about that. The US provides the world with some of the greatest minds, doctors, institutions, and advances etc. For that, I am indebted to you and your Nation. I do not consider Trump part of your greatest minds,

Now, when it comes to the flu, did you take the time and look at the references I gave you? To handle the flu, we (usually) have a vaccine and some treatments- albeit not great treatment. To handle COVID, we have to focus on interventions on a population level (Bill Gates’ “world population control”) and hope that everybody, including you, at least to some extent have some understanding that this is in no way “blown way way way out of wack”.

I quote Fergusons paper that I referenced above:
“... deaths in GB and 2.2 million in the US, not accounting for the potential negative effects of health systems being overwhelmed on mortality.”... This is not the flu. The need for ICU beds would be staggering in a “do nothing scenario”. There goes your empty tents.
