Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Neat. Looks like a whole new platform.

A new Alphas TW would be awesome. I think they have fixed most of the T-wing bugs, but I do wonder if the line guide will still track when drag is pulled like my SV105 does. I don't think the T-wing would affect this, but something to wonder about. This reel with an 8.6 ratio and a regular SV spool, or even an Alphas CT SV TW would be great. I have always liked the Alphas/SV105 platform because they are reliable, aluminum, brass geared, proved, etc. and still cheaper than the Steez level reels.

Idk about price yet. I been scourging the internet and no dice. I did see a video on Ultimate Badd Daiwa Facebook page and there is a new TWS reel coming out that casts Neko rigs... :D

It was typical "Project T" style not showing the full reel.

I wish Daiwa would realize that there are other colors in the rainbow than red. A great spool doesn't become better because it's red. Just keep the spools black, and let us do our thing.

Nice. It has the bottom mount mag dial like the Steez CT reels. Poor man's Steez CT Air. I hope they make more based off this platform.

Very interested to hear how it fishes. Assuming this has an aluminum frame and handle sideplate as well as brass gearing I'm very interested in this reel. Do wish they had chosen to just go with a regular Alphas CT TW like others have mentioned though.

Its a May release. From what I saw, its typical Alphas hardware, just a little updated. 6/1 bearings. It is saltwater safe so, probably missing all 4 from the knobs because of it.

Might it be around regular Alphas sized frame, modified to TWS & smaller spool? TWS takes more room, but I think this spool is narrower and that creates some of room for TWS, because line guide travel is decreased.

Nice (in my opinion) that it seems not actually real spacers, there is some kind of flange but it's rigid in frame / sideplate.

Bad that this is expensive Alphas...

Agreed expensive alphas. I only paid $80-$100 more for each of my steez airs online.

The 396ish USD is the MSRP, street price will be lower I am sure.
