If that handle did not look like it belonged in a porn flick, I’d be all over trying one of these out.

Lol! Are you referring to a double-sided marital aide?
Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it  A few of us depraved souls have had a laugh about the aesthetics no doubt, but seriously, I fished the previous model Xtreme series "**** ****" handle and it was not nearly uncomfortable as it looks. I've gotten the new 2020 AGS Xtreme wet to see how it compares and the "splatter" certainly adds to the tacky feel of the handle overall. They aren't for everyone, and as awkward as this post may seem, there is certainly some real validity to it 8-)

I guess I'm in the minority because I absolutely love that handle. I was also in the minority when i liked the 13 fishing envy handle. Maybe I'm just an oddball
I dig the look. I'm really excited to eventually hear some feedback on how these sticks fish. 8-)

I posted this on another site, but I know the Tackle Tour membership will appreciate this information about the blank differences between new 2020 Xtreme AGS and previous Xtreme.

The lengths, actions, and powers are the same as previous Legend Xtreme. We can discuss the handle differences, which is more than the addition of the splatter material, at a later time. Let's focus on the blank differences first.

The "Advanced Reinforcing Technology" or "ART" is different than previous SCV. The new material has increased hoop strength due to a more evenly spread raw carbon fiber material.

The "Fortified Resin System" or "FRS" is different. The material and cure cycle are completely re-engineered to create a stronger blank without sacrificing overall weight.

The main fiber has the same modulus graphite as previous SCV, but has dramatically improved tensile strength. Essentially, the amount of stretch in the material before a failure occurs has been greatly improved in the blank used in new Legend Xtreme.

I hope this will help quell the perception that new Legend Xtreme is the same as the old one, because in reality, it is a completely different blank. I agree 100% that this should have been one of the foremost points in marketing this new line and it should have been called something different, but that is also another conversation.

Seems like people just need to get out and fish them to find out. Interested how much the AGS guides will help with percieved sensitivity?

These are in stock at the local retailer here in MSP. Went in and checked them out the other night. Overall balance feels great. I own the last gen Xtreme in a spinning rod, and despite the terrible look I really love the handle. The solid material transfers vibration better than cork does and the ugly double dong formation actually catches the second hand very nicely on 2 handed casting.

With what's been written about the updates to the blank, I can only imagine that these will be amazing on water.

So I took a leap and ordered one

7ft Medium.

Like sgsolberg the handle is kinda ugly but fits your hand and is very comfortable

Balance is absolutely superb and spot on.

The blank and guides are super light

All the weight is in the handle

Need alot more time to fish but initially very happy with the purchase.

I know that is a new rain drop/drip finish in regard to the handle, but it makes me want to go to the local home depot grab a can of spray on orange peel wall finish, spray paint black call it a day and some saved money :-k , but it appears I missed the boat already, St. Croix beat me to it and is making that chedda

Just before these were announced, I picked up the previous version Legend Xtreme casting rods and I was worried about the reel seat / handle. For a casting rod, they are great. New ones look even better to me. The previous model spinning handles / seats - I’m not so sure about. My brother has 3 spinning models and I never warmed up to them well. With the new carbon fiber forehood, they likely will be fine for me.

I admit I never paid attention to the AGS guides because they were only available on Daiwa house rods and they like EVA far too much. Now that they are available to St.Croix, I’m VERY interested. Really wish I could buy them stand-alone for long Centerpin rod builds! Anyway, is running braid to fluoro knots through these guides really a problem? That’d be a deal breaker for me...

Thanks for all the info so far!

Also wish they’d build their 6’10” MLXF blank as a baitcaster too...

Still waiting to see how the sensitivity compares to a NRX.

I wish the whole handle was carbon fiber.

That balance with an aldebaren is absurd

I know right. I'm wondering if all the other models balance as nicely
