Tatula Elite vs '20 tatula sv

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Tatula Elite vs '20 tatula sv

Post by chrisg_sdcf » Sun Mar 29, 2020 5:07 pm

I know some people have had a chance to fish the new tatula sv so hopefully I can get some feedback. I did read the tackletour review as well.

I bought my son the original tatula sv not to long ago because the price dropped and I thought it was a good reel for him. I still think it's a good reel but I like the idea of a smaller frame for his smaller hands. How much smaller are the tatula elite and new tatula sv than the old tatula sv? Anyone also own an alphas to compare the size with? (I thought the alphas was a good size for him but the tatula sv would probably be more forgiving)

Also how does the new tatula sv cast compared to the old sv and elite? Which one would you say is best for an all around reel for for someone with smaller hands and newish to baitcasters.

Thanks

If the old Tat SV is the same frame as a Fuego CT then I can do a pick of it next to a new Tat SV and an Alphas for you tomorrow if you would like. I’m a terrible photographer however, but I can do what I can.

I think the Fuego CT and old tatula sv are the same size so that should work. Thanks. How do you like the new tat SV?

I’ll try to remember to grab a picture tomorrow afternoon, I don’t post one by the evening give me a poke.

So far I’m really liking the new Tat SV. I have it loaded with 50 pound braid on a little 6’3” rod, so obviously I don’t have a really good sense of its versatility but it’s an amazing caster in terms of distance and control, extremely happy with the distance I’m getting on such a short rod and at some point soon I’m going to stick it on one of my longer rods and see what it can really do.

I just bought one of each. (American legacy had a 20% off daiwa sale) Won't be able to fish until they open the lakes in my area though. There was a poll on the daiwa buy sell trade page on Facebook and last I looked those two were pretty even.

I suspect the Elite to be for mid to heavier baits long casts, the SV for lighter, finesse baits and/or flipping/skipping/etc. I could be wrong...

Thread drift, but I took advantage of that sale as well for a Zillion HD TW and a 4000 Certate. Coronavirus economy presents, I guess😈

Yeah, I bought a 2020 Tatula SV, Tatula Elite and Tatula Elite P/F as well. Will report back on the comparison of them.

I just bought one of each during the sale as well. Got the elite, but haven't used it yet. The SV was on backorder, so I guess I have to wait.

ALF got me as well. Elite feels super solid. SV TW less so; if I keep it, it's getting knobs and a drag star stat.

Dang, maybe I should have bought two elites. I figured the sv would be easier or more forgiving for my son though.
