Is there a braid better than Spiderwire Ultracast?

Post by Congoman775 » Fri Apr 24, 2020 10:26 pm

I'll be honest, I love ultracast 10lb for my inshore applications but my vain-ass wants to match my line to the blue trim on my new first ever NRX. Is there another braid you guys like as much/more than ultracast, and hopefully something that comes in a nice blue color?

Thanks

PowerPro Slick 8 is pretty good and comes in blue.

The Ultracast comes in a blue camo. Yozuri also has a blue braid.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

If your looking for something on the higher end, you can look at both of these. The comparable size to the ultracast would be #20/1PE

I really like the Sunline Castaway, I have it on my Exist and Certate. It has a slightly higher specific gravity so you get an improvement in line management. It's a little loud in the guides because it is not super slick, but I like the way it grabs a leader and have seen no loss in casting distance.

Ultracast has coastal camo and so does suffix, I like the Castaway as well, but for the money I prefer the ultracast.

Seaguar Smackdown and Pline TCB8 are my two favorites right now, I like both over spiderwire.

I do want to try Gosen 16 but that stuff is damn expensive...

You need to check out Ultracast in AquaCamo... that's the ticket ;)

Finatic also makes a nice blue braid available in 10lb: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfinaticbraid.html

I love power pro, much better than spider wire in my opinion. Though everyone fishes just a little different so for the way I fish I prefer power pro and all there products.

Usually, when I stray is when I get burnt. A few notable times:

Daiwa x4 and x8
Any thing from sunline braid and FC rock.
Seaguar I've been a long time customer. I used to use there red label and for the money it was pretty good. Extremely sensitive for the price.

9 times out of 8 I use braid with a FC leader. 😉 So I'm also always looking for FC I like as well.
