New Daiwa reel?

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

That's why it looks like I'll be looking for another OG zillion instead of buying a new reel

Notice at the bottom of the daiwa page it says “be earth friendly”...

I guess that’s their plan with the tatula: Reduce, reuse recycle...

The "new" Tatula CT is not based on the 100 platoform. It is the old Tatula from 2016. Tatulas don't go away. They just keep making more and renaming the old ones and releasing them as new (Tatula 150, 200 and Tatula CT)

Thanks for pointing that out , I see it now ,the handle threw me off.

Took me a minute, but I saw it, too. I'm on the very edge of sick of Daiwa's marketing strategy. Might just be moving on to greener pastures. The Antares 70 and the Met both have me seriously thinking.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

One side of me says NEVER! The other side is conflicted, as the new Metanium definitely looks the goods. Switch a bit, or keep collecting the oldies.

I have a nib- now discontinued Daiwa Steez 6.3R SV JDM if interested.

A man can learn to enjoy both Daiwa and Shimanos. I have as many as 3 Shimanos.

I’m mixed when it comes to mixing companies. My older Daiwa reels surpass my Shimano’s by quite a margin in refinement and customization abilities. But the new Metanium is worth the money. Haven’t tried the new Steez CT or the Steez SV TW yet so I can’t compare. But Shimano seems like they are making major moves while Daiwa is sticking to the Tatula.

The Steez and Steez CT reels are pretty great. The Steez platform is used in aluminum with the 19 Morethan PE.

Come to think of it, they have the Steez, little Steez, both Alphas, Lexa and then everything elese is a Tatula that is low profile and actually a Daiwa.

Was the Metanium that much better? I love the new Metanium, and am fishing mainly the ZPI Z Pride and the 20 Metanium. Love them both. Wondering if I should add a Steez to my collection or another Metanium.
