Hey guys,
I have an SLX XT and recently got an MGL spool from someone. With mono backing and braid as the mainline, it totals out to be around ~20g with a fill spool.
I'm looking to lighten the spool a bit, and read that braid was lighter than mono by volume, and would reduce your spool weight. Does anyone have experience in this? If so, what lines do you recommend to keep your backing as light as possible?
I know braid works, but I was considering dacron [fly line backing] as well, any thoughts on that?
What do ya'll think?

If I was going for the lightest weight, I'd probably use some polypropylene string as backing. Not that I have any data to back that up, but just a feeling.
