Conquest 100 users

Post by LgMouthGambler » Thu Aug 06, 2020 6:19 am

I love round reels, they are just a thing all on their own. I have a CQ50, and a Calcutta100XT. I love my 200GTB, but its just a little too big for me. Loving the look of the reel, I just stuck it in the display case cause its pretty. I sold a bunch of stuff I dont use, and decided to order my Birthday present to myself a few months early. :big grin: Finally bit the bullet and got a 14Conquest100HG. For those of you that have this 14CQ, how have they held up? What do you use it for? Just want to hear from personal experience as there is not too much on this reel to read up on.

You have read this, right? http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimconquest101.html

Other than needing a little oil during our last testing trip, still holding up strong 💪 .... shown here mounted on a Daiko Cobretty RC67-007 Dempsey spooled with 40lb PowerPro Hollow Braid with a top shot of 10lb Sufix Advance FC and the new ZMan Jackhammer Stealth ;)

I love mine, but there’s not a Conquest reel that I don’t love. Not the lightest but definitely up there with the smoothest made.

I use mine for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. It makes the rounds on my Megabass Carbonhead Hein, Valkyrie VKC69M+ and Northwall Eiger.

I use a Conquest 101HG spooled with PE 2.5 for all kinds of heavier duty applications - throwing buzzbaits for snakeheads, jika rigs for groupers, 2oz swimbaits... The list goes on. It's such a tough reel with a great sense of refinement. Personally, ergonomics is the only downside. I know the form is fantastic considering it is a round reel, but a low profile reel just sits better in my palm after hours of fishing.

Got the reel in the mail today. Alls I can say is "WOW". Smooth, and small. The palm side is without a doubt just as small as my Conquest 50. This reel is gonna be fun. =D>

I really like mine. Throw spoons, plugs and spinners for large trout. Have installed the shallow avail spool and have the reel on longer rods, where reel weight helps with balance. Have used for some years and have not had to service it yet.

Also love round reels and expect the 2020 CQ 101HG DC in the mailbox tomorrow.

My 100 is a tank. I throw 12# FC and use it for fishing deeper water with jigs, big Senkos, and chatterbaits. I swapped the stock handle with a Bassart one.

(Although, because i have smaller hands, my Conquest 50 is my favorite reel in my arsenal)

I was looking for one this morning after seeing Cal's picture..lol
I want the 100 with the 6.8:1 gear ratio.. I sold my wife's 50 but we kinda miss it.. I had the '14 200 size but it was too much reel and I believed that the 100 would be better although I dont have a rod for one except a crankbait stick .

Jorrick, hit me up. I picked up another Conquest BFS so may let my Conquest 100HG go.
