3D Printed 10mm Nut Driver Bit
Don't know if there are any guys on here doing 3d printing, but I made a 10 mm nut handle bit that fits a 1/4" socket about 6 months ago and it has worked flawlessly. Most of the nuts were slightly loose in the nut driver. From cleaning so many reels, I used to put tape on the inside of a std 10 mm nut driver (right side in pic). Although it did work, after awhile the tape would wear on the inside and the nuts would be loose again. As you can see some of the older handle nut caps are painted black, and the one in the pic shows scratch marks. The new plastic 3d printed nut driver bit I made (with a smaller 10 mm tolerance) doesn't scratch, paint or any kind of aluminum anodized nut caps. I have also 3d printed some spacers and shims. Thought I would share some things that can be 3d printed for fishing reels. I plan on 3d printing a reel handle in copper color as soon as I get it designed. Will post when it gets finished.

Re: 3D Printed 10mm Nut Driver Bit
Thanks Guys. Actually, I didn't expect it to last long since it was plastic, but I haven't broken one yet. I have quite a few things other than the handle I want to make. Including some gears, star drags and some misc. other reel parts. I also want to make a worm gear pawl. I want to see how smooth it is and how long it will last in a reel. I'll post pics as I finish these if you guys are interested.

You should probably make a batch with Tackle Tour Forum on the shaft and sell them on here to members
I know I would buy one.

Re: 3D Printed 10mm Nut Driver Bit
I cannot print text on the shank. the flats on the hex is 1/8"(.125) The 3d printer would print the text, however it would not be legible. I tried printing it on the barrel, and that would weaken the barrel as I currently have it designed. The text would have to be cut into the barrel. Also the 3d print is black so you would not be able to see the text. I might try a thicker barrel and see how that goes. I will keep you posted, how it develops.IlliniDawg01 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:05 amYou should probably make a batch with Tackle Tour Forum on the shaft and sell them on here to members

Re: 3D Printed 10mm Nut Driver Bit
So just a quick update on the progression of the nut driver above. I went from a single use tool to a multi-use tool. The concept drawing is below. The final product was 3d printed as well pic below. This tool went from a 10mm socket to a 10 and 11mm socket. Thanks goes out to triple_illusion for an initial link that he sent me to my final design. Stress test has been done and with normal use, this tool will work really well for reels. So my question to you guys is this. I have embossed numbers and letters into the plastic. I would like to know if anyone has an idea on how I can put black paint into my letters so they are visible. The letters are 3/16" high, .031 deep.

At work, we use a lacquer paint stick to fill in on our engraved white plastic. Works great.cadman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:29 pmSo just a quick update on the progression of the nut driver above. MountainMan,
Thanks for the reply. If I put this on and fill my letters, will the residue on the surface be able to be wiped off with out any discoloration?
