That's the million dollar question right? Looks great of it holds up and does it even have a black t-wing?Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:21 pmNice! Does the finish seem durable - will it hold up do you think?
Re: Steez ltd sv tw
No. This finish will not hold unless it’s kept in the box. That’s certain. Yes; the t-wing is black.chrisg_sdcf wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 7:22 amThat's the million dollar question right? How do you know that the finish won't hold up?Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 8:21 amNo. This finish will not hold unless it’s kept in the box. That’s certain. Took it out of the box. Admired it. Spooled it up. Went outside to the dock (lake in backyard, so no driving needed). Carried it to the dock like it was a fabrege egg. Made a few casts to check out the spool. With the holidays, decided to fish it later and went back in with the family. Never put it down and gently placed in the rod rack. Next time I picked it up to actually fish it, I noticed the tiniest of little scuffs on it already. I have a pretty good feeling that it will get many more scuffs in that reflective finish if I were to fish it regularly. Now; the flat finish on the new zillion and alphas on other hand looks to be solid.Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 9:10 pmHow do you know that the finish won't hold up?Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 8:21 amNo. This finish will not hold unless it’s kept in the box. Yeah, I don’t know how it could have even happened. It’s not the paint. It’s like there is a layer of something put onto the paint that makes it reflect and kind of shine off the light. This outer shell is what I suspect might get scuffed up something wicked with some use. Maybe I’m wrong. I tend to fall more in love with my gear as I associate it with memories of fish catches and certain scuffs and dings remain associated with those memories. Of course, I have a little collection like many here which I keep scuff free like toys. But, I don’t fish those. This one could have gone either way because it’s a looker. But, I dare anyone who takes a few casts with this thing to shelf it. It’s just too good not to fish to death.Hogsticker2 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 3:33 pmDang. I think that was the same issue with the steez ltd 105sv XH. It was the top coat that damaged easy and peeled.Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 5:00 pmYeah, I don’t know how it could have even happened. It’s not the paint. Lol that would be my problem. Its a expensive reel and as much i like to fish it, i also like to shelf it thats why i bought the zillion first. Still debating hard if i should just buy the damn thing.Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 5:00 pmYeah, I don’t know how it could have even happened. It’s not the paint. Keep an eye out for the top coat to start peeling and getting bubbles.
