Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Daiwa Airity LT Reel

Post by ftl1951 » Thu Dec 24, 2020 1:28 pm

Does anyone know where this reel (Airity) is supposed to fit in the Daiwa lineup? It has one less bearing than the Luvias, but pretty much all the same tech with the new monocoque body.

I believe there is now a article on TZlure about this reel. It just showed up within the last day or so.

Also just came across the 2021 Airity Luvias Lt. supposedly it’s a magnesium monocoque, based off the Exist Lt, and JDM exclusive vs this being based off the Luvias. Looks a lot better than both this and the Luvias. If it comes in the 2000 size and isn’t crazy pricy I’m game. Probably competes against the vanquish in price point and features.

There are some differences in the one in the article and the picture that was posted. Whether it is the same reel with just color scheme changes or not I don't know.

I got the picture from the Daiwa Scandinavia catalogue so this color scheme is a European offering. I am hopeful this will make it here or at least available for order from Japan. BTW, the catalogue indicates it’s not made in Japan for what it’s worth..?

Yes they are different. The one pictured here is the entry model based of the Luvias Lt, and the other is a premium model based off the Exist Lt. Supposedly a magnesium frame, basically a more affordable exist.

So a staggered release...February, March, and April. Size dependent. Certainly not cheap....

Man they look good. I’m down for one if the typical about $100 less than advertised happens. Seems like a more reasonable price than the exist, although still pretty steep.

Check that I done goofed. It’s premium reel and is gonna sell at that price whoops.

Looks like an exist with a lighter color scheme.
Should be sweet.

QD Quick Drag - is it a new feature in Daiwa reels?
Wondering how it works.

From everything I’ve read, it has the ATD drag system like other newer Daiwa spinning reels. Not sure about “quick drag”...??

Also, according to Daiwa website, the body is magnesium like the Exist. One of the other articles I read talked about aluminum. Maybe that is the other version being offered in the European market??? Still looks like a very interesting reel.

Surprised it's not called hyper drag, along with all their other new hyper BS marketing.

Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
