Zillion sv TW 1000

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

It's Bootytrain. He's a former member and huge Shimano fan boy. He used to get triggered all the time on here an BR so he created his own YT channel. He uses some of his own reels like his engetsu and claims a subscriber sent it to him. He does do budget BFS stuff and aliexpress parts which is good content. I enjoy that.

Bootytrain?! If you are not kidding, the guys was a die hard Shimano fan period.
Now it kinda makes sense he smashes Daiwa in his tests, and Shimano is always the winner.
Lol that guy is a joke... you can tell he bashes on daiwa from his video. Like his last casting test between the metanium and the new zillion, dude has the braking on 8 for the zillion. 🤦‍♂️
He did say that anything less would blow up the spool, but that does seem like a little bit of a stretch. It also makes me think that the Zillion might cast further if you lower the brakes and apply some finesse thumb work. Who knows. It would be nice to see someone else's comparison to the 20Met.

In case of distance casting with Mag-Z, in my opinion, HLC spring is needed. In distance casting spool revolutions are high and with standard spring inductor doesn't retract back in as it is designed to. However distances in fishing situations are not significant and birdnests are easier to make with stronger spring.

There is a new Steez A HLC is you like HLC reel. 36 m too so it should fit the old Zillions. I really enjoy my TD Zillion HLC spool.

I'll take Booty on his word that 8 is the lowest he could go. He casts like me which is a very hard whip cracking like casts that favors centrifugal brakes. SV spools perform poorly when cast this way and why I always prefer my Mag Z and Sbimanos for distance over my SV spools. SV for me is for close in work working shoreline with a number of casting techniques and no spool tension.

I think I mentioned it earlier in one of the 5 million pages in this thread. But yeah, with lighter pound fluorocarbon, I couldn't get the setting much lower than 7ish without an immediate backlash. And if you Happy Gilmore it, you're gonna need that thing on 8 for sure.

You must live near the mo bootheel then
'bout 3 hours or so South and a tad east of that.

I regularly fish Ross Barnett, Pickwick, Chicot, pretty much all the MS Oxbows, Caney, Darbonne, etc. etc.

So, what are settings 1-6 for? Lures for ants?

Yes it is, and and I bet that this new Seetz A HLC is amazing reel. Probably I'm going to buy it.

I have OG HLC Zillion which is great reel for bombarda / spinfluga style fishing. Also for sv tw Zillion I have 34 mm I'Ze HLC spool, now equiped with HLC sping (strange but there was medium spring). It's great spool for many use. Also I have Steez 103 spool with HLC spring. That's nice spool for common use. I'm thinking to buy for medium-light use RCSB 1012 G1 spool and equip it with HLC spring.

Nice. I like these spools. I was very lucky and got a wild T31016 spool that was only usable with magforce 3D max brake. In my LIN10 Black Jungle it is tamed and usable with the brake set to 75% of the dial. It casts as far as an HLC but smoother casting. HLCs don't like smooth casts. I feel like I won the LIN10 spool lottery.

Close in type casts. Flips, pitches, heavier baits, thick braid. Basically, every application where the laws of physics suggest that setting is appropriate.

Whip casting light pound fluoro not being one of them.

I've seen guys cast down to 4, 5 and 6 on Magforce Z but they are doing very gentle casting strokes. copycat site YT does this a lot with his Daiwas. I think with the SV spools a gentle smooth cast will allow the spool to only partially extend the inductor and you can have a fast yet controlled spool. Casting like I do swinging for the fence cracking the whip is going to blow up the spool at those settings and force a higher mag setting which will make the spool choked off at the end of the cast. This is actually a pretty normal casting tenchinque to right hand reeling US angler and also why you here so many in the US market call SV reels overbraked. This new SV Boost looks like it addresses this and makes the inductor retract partially at lower spool speeds such as at the end of the cast.

Had a feeling the defense mechanisms would eventually show up.

Here's the list of what actually happened when I casted the new Zillion:

- Baits flew to hyper-infinity
- All my Shimanos melted
- Every eyebrow rose
- Every panty dropped

Nice to hear. Do you recommend new Zillion to others? I see there's pros and cons and I can't make a decission.

Absolutely! Outstanding reel that is probably the smoothest feeling baticaster I've ever felt.
