Which is your favorite between the old and new and why?

Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
I actually prefer the new model over the older version, the new version palms much smaller (essentially identical to the steez ct) and virtually disapperars in hand. From a performance perspective the new model has the upper hand as well.
The air tw is a bit different animal but is an improvement over the older alphas air and asc reels in casting ease, distance, and refinement. (Using stock spools as a comparison point)
Comparing the sv tw with the old sv105 and ct sv:
Spool startup- Alphas CT is still much quicker so it would have the edge in short range pitches especially with lighter lures, sv tw falls in the middle, its quicker than the 33mm sv105 spool so pitching performance would be in between the two. All 3 can skip jigs very well.
Casting distance and behavior- The ct sv and sv105 stock spools were always close in total distance for me and tw edges out the ct and sv105 spool by about 10-15ft with the lure ranges I've used, still great control in windy conditions. I haven't tried bombing big cranks but using 1/4oz rattle traps the sv tw is definitely isnt too choked off. I can get by with the magnets set around 6-8 out of 20 with most lures in normal conditions. With solid head winds usually a setting around 10-12 calms the spool down.
Smoothness/refinement- The 8.1 sv tw is just as smooth as any alphas i've ever used (I've owned around 20 of them in 5.8, 6.8 and 7.2 ratios) and has better tolerances in the handle and knobs. No in and out play of the handle or knobs. The aluminum handle sideplate of the sv tw and brass gears make it feel super solid more like an OG zillion than the ct sv or sv105.
Ergonomics- SV TW feels tiny like the steez ct, smaller than a pixy or OG alphas.
Overall the sv tw is worthy of the alphas name, picking it up and turning the handle you wouldn't know it wasn't made in Japan. Granted mine is a sample of 1 each of the air and sv models they are both very nice.

Here’s a comparison of the alphas tw to the steez ct. They are pretty much identical in size.
Re: Alphas Appreciation Thread
I think I’m good now with Alphas.

I'll need to spend more time with it. Only used it once but seems like a good all around caster, feels really solid and smooth.

I should take a better picture. Alpha CT SV 7.2 with a Daiwa 90 mm carbon fiber handle.

I finally found a reel to put on the Daiwa AGS MMH.
A match made in heaven. I was getting really good distance with 1/4 oz speed trap cranks, and burning them back was effortless.

I love mine, too. FWIW, these reels have the same exact gear set as the new Zillion G.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
