The Baby Jack: Z-Man and Evergreen’s Downsized Jack Hammer
Introduction: Is there a bait that has put more weight on the tournament scales than the ChatterBait JackHammer? This bladed jig, a collaboration between Z-Man and Evergreen, has become a staple at every level of competitive bass fishing. Now, at this week’s Bassmaster Classic, the two companies are unveiling a downsized version of their award-winning bait - the ChatterBait JackHammer Baby Jack.
Is there going to be much difference between these and the Elite Evo minimax Tackle Warehouse just announced as an exclusive?
Yes. The Baby Jack seems like a more finesse, lighter hooked version, using a 3/0 Decoy hook. The TW Exclusive Evo Mini Max has a BKK hook that says to be heavier wire than the initial Mini Max.
For the record I have tried neither, just speculating from what everyone has stated and what the specs claim.
EDIT: Now I have ordered both and checked them out, the EVO Mini Max has a smaller, stouter 2/0 hook. I swore I read the TW Evo Mini Max had a BKK hook but cannot find that now. Looking forward to fishing after all this flooding and post results...
