I like 5s or 5.5s for most builds - 4.5s or lower are kind of a pita, and my eyes are getting kinda poor.
Same

Re: BFS Rod Build

Spiral wrapping does not affect casting on BFS rods either... in case it helps, here's a link to a rod build I did as a BFS stick. Table at the end lays out components and I think guide size - note, I am by no means an expert on building. I just dabble... but the article is more about performance of...

Also looked at the P5 Destroyer Cyclone and Blade. We all love online shopping, but I wish I could put my hands on these! :crying:
If the P5s are the right spec, they'll likely be lighter than the Legit Design options and a bit higher end too.

Re: Rod Recommendations

A 4-power rod under 6'8" is going to be a tough find... good time to turn to some JDM specs.... Legit Design has a couple of candidates that might suit (click the blue text).

There's a 6'4" rated to 3.5oz and a 6'-9" rated to 1 - both with slower tapers

Don't think I kept my schematics, but easy to verify if you still have yours.

The second bearing would be in the frame.

Zander is enjoying his time with Shimano's new Mastiff Seaguar's AbrazX is worth trying That's two that come to mind. I fished Gamma years ago and did not care for it. Oh Berkley Trilene FC is actually decent.. might just have to buy a couple of different strengths to get the diameter you want unles...

Re: Daiwa Experts SOS! Bought a JDM Steez CT SV TW700 and think I made a mistake. USDM differences?

People say, get the heavier reel for that but why? Will my gears legitimately shatter because it's meant for smaller fish that don't bury into weeds? ... If no, then I'd much rather have the further casting, lighter reel. You fit right in... welcome to TackleTour  For me, it's always about lin...

Re: Daiwa Experts SOS! Bought a JDM Steez CT SV TW700 and think I made a mistake. USDM differences?

How do I even know what reel I ordered? Is it a 2016 model? A 2019? It’s so vague. I wanted the 2021+ newest one but I guess they often don’t tell you what version they’re selling. I don’t know. I’m just so frustrated by all of it. It’s so different than buying anything else where it’s absolutely c...

There's also a bit of a dive into Daiwa's HyperDrive gear design in our review of the '21 Zillion/Zillion G. It's more related to the way the gears are cut than the material...

Re: Daiwa silver wolf

I think Cal is doing a review on this reel. He does a variety of finesse and big bait fishing to really test the casting...and line capacity  Yeah fosho he'll be testing the line capacity. I got about 70yds of #1 Spro Finesse Braid on the Silver Wolf with roughly 5 feet of Spro FC Leader in 6l...

The BLX is the most tip heavy rod I've ever held. It is also a broomstick with very little tip. I was very disappointed in that one.
Yah... Zander has a BLX rod.. probably not that exact model, but I'd scratch the BLX off your comparison list right away.
