Re: Spool weight ranking list

Let's see if this works... and if it's useful. Not sure when I started weighing the spools on reels, so there will be some missing, but these are listed from lightest spool to heaviest. Column order: Manufacturer : Fishing Reel : Reel Weight in ounces : Spool Weight in grams unless otherwise noted S...

The out-going drag clicker on the Conquest is another feature I wish the Antares has!
If memory serves me correctly - and who knows about that these days - I'm pretty sure the Conquest DC has it ;)

Re: 8+:1 Gear Ratio Reels

I edited your title... there have been 2 speed reels with two actual separate retrieve ratios. Otherwise all reels are one speed. Your question is about the gear ratio not different number of speeds in one reel.

Re: Tacklewarehouse package stolen?

I've had Golden State Overnight deliver to the wrong address and only knew about it because i was tracking the delivery through the TW link and saw the picture uploaded by the delivery driver showing where it was left - at a house two blocks away! ... i walked over there myself and grabbed the pack...

Re: Bantam MGL vs Zillion SVTW

At your intended lure weight application, I'm not sure you'll feel much difference between all three reels... current model Zillion/Bantam/Metanium ... The Bantam sideplate can be difficult to remove, however, both the Bantam and Metanium have an external dial for fine tuning of the casting brakes s...

Re: 2.5Oz swimbait reel

I don't believe in spool limits per se, but short handles, super low profile and small thumbing areas make a difference in my mind. I cast a 4oz swimbait quiet differently from a jig (obviously), and appreciate being able to hold on to a 200 or 300-sized reel when making those casts. And of course ...

Re: 2.5Oz swimbait reel

Side note both platforms I mentioned I would not hesitate to even go in the 4 oz plus mark ... I'm sure I've thrown heavier on my Ryoga. I am not one who subscribes to the theory reels have limits as to what they can cast. They are in freespool during a cast, so there is no stress on internals. The...

Re: NFC X-Ray

i don't recall them ever saying they were sanded.. buffed yes.. It is Gary Loomis's philosophy to sand the blanks to remove the ridges created by the cellophane wrap used to hold the graphite together during the baking process. Those ridges offer no performance enhancing purpose and are simply a bi...

Re: Metanium MGL vs Curado MGL

Pretty sure casting will be comparable... it's more about ease by which you can make a cast with MGL than pure distance. At least for me. Same goes with Daiwa's SV system. Minimal effort = excellent casting performance.
