Re: Daiwa Alphas Air TW 2020

Can anyone compare the Air TW with the Air Stream Custom? I am looking to pick up a reel for use with 6lb Supernatural and lures in the 1/16-3/16oz range. It will be mostly freshwater fishing but a little use in brackish rivers for perch, so I was leaning towards the Air TW, but can't find much inf...

Re: BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS

My reel arrives today (6/3/21) and am excited to give it a try this weekend. Found by chance a Zodias BFS Rod at Dorn's in Madison WI. I grew up with spinning reels, all my casting reels are Shimano DC (Curado, Scorpion and SLX) - so it will be interesting how long my learning curve on this non-DC ...

Re: Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse Casting Rods

First day out with the 7' 4" UFCR paired with 20 Daiwa Alphas Air TW with 6lb Tatsu. Started out bombing a ¼ oz OSP Tiny Blitz. The rod and reel threw the bait a long way. Did not get any takers so I went to finesse. Put on a weightless weedless Neko hook and a Zoom finesse worm wacky rigged. Threw...

Re: Steez CT SV strength

It will do just fine. Daiwa aluminum gears are really robust compared to some other big name companies. You are using a long rod and the drag is smooth too. Would work really well. I wouldn't drop that money for a reel for running trout (like you said) but, it will work very well. Can also use it ou...

Re: Favorite BFS rig...let's name it

Hmmm...this is a tough one. I would have to say 1/15oz Ned Rig using Zman TubeZ. Just so versatile. Catch bass, panfish, trout. Light enough to swim, twitch like a dying baitfish or just hop on bottom like a craw.

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

I use the Tsurinoya Ares XUL and it's a great SUL BFS rod. Awesome for small brook trout in streams

Re: Are you still using any of the OG Alphas?

Alphas SV for me. I been using it as a BFS reel with Roro BFS spool but, I really need to run the stock spool and throw topwater and smaller moving baits for bass.

Re: BFS Trout Magnet Goal Achieved (almost)

I love chasing panfish with small jigs on BFS gear. There is something so polarizing about the fact of using baitcasting gear to catch them

Re: Bfs casts........... and a trout magnet

So I see the recommendation of the Tsurinoya Ares but after looking on Ali Express I cannot seem to find the Ares anymore. Am I missing it or did Tsurinoya discontinue or peplace that model? It is kinda hard to find on their. There is no mention of Ares on the rod but, I saw that name on their webs...

Re: Budget Freshwater setup

Fir a combo that is tough enough for a grandkid yet, enjoyable to use by you, I would get a Pflueger President. Nice tough spinning reels that perform above their price point. For the rod, really depends on how big of fish and the cover. Rods are labeled all over the place in regard to power and tap...

Re: BFS reel for those who don't go low

I been liking the Curado BFS and SLX BFS for those "non-UL" BFS applications. Cast great, not very expensive and seem to be built tough.

Could be painted over as the white Daiwa logo looks "under" some other paint.

Re: Team Pink

I had been wanting to dress my 9.1 Zillions in pink for over a year, but Hedgehog seemingly is never going to replenish stock on the pink handle nut retainer/screw. I decided to go for it anyway....I'll just keep an eye out for the pink handle hardware. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1024x768q9...
