Re: Steez Limited 105 paint ?

Get it ceramic "cerakote" coated, there is a atmospheric cure version than needing it baked on.

Re: Tackle Trap Reel Repair

I've washed gears and subsequently brushed them with a light polish and old tooth brush to brighten them, however not used a rotary tool on gears per se, if I did in the past it was on heavily corroded brass. Not sure what the benefit is for polishing - a good grease is more than enough to keep them...

Re: wet scorpion dc reel

Regardless of what type of water you want to get it serviced. Freshwater can carry sediments and that can do damage, saltwater carries salt and sediments like quartz, silicates and the list goes on etc. With freshwater it's good if you want to just dry it out, relube and keep on plugging, but honest...

You can buy DRT copies of lures as well, I do not think they can do anything about it.
Well you've seen the automotive industry reaction to china's copies of vehicles.

China is a force of mature that just ruins things...

Re: Why is DRT so damn expensive?

Quality and production output is kept low to keep the product in demand, hence why Gomexus has come around flogging off their copy cat product at a fraction of the cost and people are lapping it up greedily.

Re: Level wind Prawl Cap???

Not sure how many would remember the early Curado B, the vertical pawl cap design and how fragile the pawl cap plastic was after a time spent outside, where the lower perimeter would crack and the pawl would literally drop out of the worm shaft or completely fall out lost to the void. But for the sa...

Plastic caps are garbage. Always tried to use the aluminium or chromed brass ones if available.

Re: Using polishing compound on classic Abu 2500C reels??

I still remember and most possibly still have a fishing catalogue cut out of these series for sale late 1998 circa here in Australia, on sale for $199...

Not an absolute steal back then, but now absolutely...

Re: Using polishing compound on classic Abu 2500C reels??

I don't think there's much you can do for anodised surfaces. Once you get a scratch or blemish let alone corrosion that's it, you've got it for life.

Beautiful reels by the way.

Re: Using polishing compound on classic Abu 2500C reels??

They're hard anodised aluminium, so you'd have to mechanically or chemically remove that surface before going to town polishing the aluminium to a high lustre.

Re: Shimano scorpion 300md gear sets

Can indicate, however the handle shaft, pinion yolk and whatever else associated to those gears need cross references.

It's a bit of a pain but write down all the BNT numbers for either reel and side by side and you'll get a picture for the parts needed.
