Re: Minimum parts needed to tune an Abu 1500c to be BFS?
I have several tuned 1500C and 2500C reels. After a lighter spool with good hybrid ceramic bearings what gives the largest benefit is an aluminium line guide and ceramic pawl. The lighter aluminium line guide reduces the energy loss when it changes direction. I have idler gears and level winds with ...

Best value for money, but Steez SV TW and CT SV are better reels.

Re: Ambassadeur 1500C or 2500C for long distance light fishing
With original line carriage and pawl 2500C is giving quite a bit lot longer distance, with aluminium carriage and ceramic pawl the difference is much smaller. And for the lightest baits 1500C with aluminium carriage and ceramic pawl is getting the best distance of the two .

Re: BFS Reel option : New Conquest BFS? Or tune up my Abu 2500C?
If I'm going to tune up old little Abu, I will choose Ambassadeur 2500 (over 1500 or 3500). 3500 is said it don't cast as good as 2500 - I'm not sure of why it's so. Spool weight 2500 c vs. 1500 c is slim. But 1500 is narrower, and line guide changes direction faster... With the light aluminium lin...

Re: My SV Boost reels, so far...
Yes, it's more braked in the end of the cast than a centrifugal brake, which is actually good. With only a centrifugal brake you will have to thumb towards the end of the cast. The reel I've spent most time optimizing is Ambassadeur 6500 CS Mag which has 6 centrifugal brake blocks and a linear magne...

Re: Zillion 1000 JDM plastic bag reel wrapper
Buy from the right source . I bought mine from JP Angler. From Daiwa the reel was put in a plain plastic bag, but Kazu had wrapped bubble plastic around the reel inside the box and around the box before shipping to me

Re: My SV Boost reels, so far...
I've done some initial testing with Zillion 1000H SV TW, I really like the new SV Boost spool. The SV spool has always been a very capable spool platform, but the brake profiles have limited the performance. With a different inductor, like the Ray's inductor, or with a stiffer spring the spools have...

Re: My SV Boost reels, so far...
The recommendation from Daiwa not to use multifilament is probably because a very strong line can deform the spool if excessive force is used to get a stuck lure free from the bottom. This is a problem the user easily can avoid. I understand the physics behind why nylon is not good for thin spools. ...

...ported spools are not recommended for mono... According to whom, and for what reason? Even at Aliexpress they recommend multifilament for thin walled spools. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001483818575.html?af=159352_1&utm_campaign=159352_1&aff_platform=portals-hotproduct&utm_medium=cpa&afr...

Re: My SV Boost reels, so far...
The strength of the magnets can be compensate by changing the brake setting. T3 SV in Long cast mode is the reel I've tried with the least brake strength.

Re: My SV Boost reels, so far...
I want the best Daiwa for casting 5-15g, I'm mostly using metal spinners and spoons. I prefer using 0.20mm nylon monofilament. I think the SV reels (I have Steez, Steez CT TW and T3) are over braked. I also had a SS SV which was even more over braked. I use zero mechanical brake. I usually have the...

Re: Anyone tried DIY spools? $29-$40 BFS spools!
Are there other Chinese tuning spools than Ray's with movable inductors? I have three Ray's spools and one Roro. I like fixed inductors for 3g and lower casting weigh, but the reason why I use Daiwa low profile baitcasters (and an 16 Aldebaran BFS) is because of the braking profiles of the movable i...
