Re: Calcutta Conquest BFS 2023 experiences so far?
23 Conquest has been nice so far! I’ve fished it a lot since picking it up, and I was pretty abusive getting it muddy this spring white bass fishing. It’s still flawless, and the build quality exceeds the 17 conquest bfs in my eyes. I flip cast a lot and you can 100% switch from flip casts to long c...

Re: Which bfs reel for skipping 4” senko?
Another vote for the SS Air TW. The tweaks they made to it over the recent Air models has made it a skipping machine. No overhanging tree has been safe this summer.

Re: Premium Mountain Stream Rods-The Hunt
What’s the action of boron rods closest to in ultra light? Is it more like carbon fiber, if that’s what it’s mixed with? I see Anglo and M aire both have boron rods, but m Aire boron models look like they’re mostly for bigger fish. The only experience I have with boron was a Winston Boron fly rod on...

IMG_2094.jpg IMG_2097.JPG Here's a few. I'll take some better pictures and post full casting notes in a new thread once I have more time with each on the water. Initially I can provide casting impressions: The bamboo rod is crisp and on the faster end of moderate fast. I was surprised how smooth ca...

Re: Premium Mountain Stream Rods-The Hunt
Oh man, it is good to see someone else made the same New Year’s resolution to go high end with stream rods! I think I looked at almost all of these rod makers a few times in the last few months. I too, have been on the prowl for an Anglo and Co, but they seem to be super rare. I got pretty close to ...

What’s your budget and what’s your preferred action? For streams like you mentioned, if you want something similar in specs and price to the finetail, consider the Palms Rera Kamuy RKSC 53 UL. It’s 5’3” right in the middle of your length ask, and lure rating is also right where you’re looking. I had...

Re: Daiwa SS Air TW
Super excited about this one. It looks like a Steez frame with a newly built sideplate and brake dial position. At first glance, I don't see any other Daiwa's using that brake dial position on their sideplates, but maybe I'm missing a reel or two. I know the recent Alphas and Steez Air has the brake...

Re: Conquest BFS 2023
Does it appear that the the XG model has a longer handle? Either way Im getting one, I have a Conquest DC 100HG, this new BFS model looks to be almost the same size, anyone find out how much it weighs? Listed at 195 grams. The 2017 Conquest BFS is 200 grams, so probably not much noticeable differen...

Re: MC Finetail Stream Glass rods
I have the 4’6” rod and I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for casting 5g and less, down to a smidge under 1g if you so desire. It’s actually not as noodly as you might expect, either. It’s the rod to beat in stream fishing applications for me right now. Compared to the regular finetail 4’10”, I fin...

Bulk Line Recommendations
I'm looking for some line recommendations for premium flouro and nylon I can buy larger spools of. I've fished most of the UL Varivas offerings at this point, but I go through their 100m spools far too fast. I love ultralighting to death, but I've burned through so much line I can't keep count. Anyt...

Megabass Destroyer Bait Finesse/Hien vs Criffhanger/Cliffhanger
Looking to upgrade my power BFS setup. I've never fished anything in the Destroyer series, but I'm between the Bait Finesse/Hien and the Criffhanger/Cliffhanger Thrilling. Has anyone fished one or both and can weigh in? Rod will be used mostly for bottom contact baits between 3-7 grams total. Occasi...

Re: High quality ul hardbait rod
If you're looking for a high-end stick, consider Tenryu Rayz. It's a stream trout rod series, but the L or even ML options they have will probably fit your bill perfectly. Stream trout rods that are rated ~3-10 grams will be good for small fish, and still serve you well if you land into a lunker. Th...

Re: Help Me Chose First BFS Trout Rod
The Major Craft Finetail series has a few different options. There’s the stream trout rods designated with FSX, area rods which are FAX, glass which debuted this year and are FSG, and the pack rods which are FTX. I’ve had at least one in every series. For that 3-6g range, the fsx-b4102UL might not b...

Re: New 2021 Daiwa 月下美人 “Alphas” Air TW PE Special
Spool is centered. As far as I can tell, the bearings between the Roro spools are identical. The fixed inductor cup on the other side though has a little groove from where it seems to be rubbing against something, so I'm wondering if there's a way to move that inductor cup back a super small amount....

Re: Help Me Chose First BFS Trout Rod
Closest rod that comes to mind is the Palms Rera Kamuy RKSC 53UL. It's positively fantastic in that 3-6g weight range, you can go lower with it if necessary, and higher if you need to. I love it for trout and cree/small river bass fishing. It's 5'3" so it hits right in your length range too. Japanes...
