Re: Ned Rod choices - P5 / NRX+ / AGS
Maybe I'm the outlier but I like long rods for my Ned rigs. A 7'4" is the shortest rod for Neds I have used over the last 5 years (741 Champ HP) and mostly 7'6"s (Steez). Most of my fishing is Great Lakes where long fights with plenty of deep water is the norm where I just let the fish tire itself o...

Re: When Nothing is Working, What Do You Throw?
I think you should! I saw the thread title and thought “hmm, I don’t think I have a go-to hard bait when things are tough, it’s all plastics”. 2.8 Keitech, Ned rig, small tube, dropshot… Just get a BFS rod and reel ;) I agree. I don't really have a go-to hard bait. If it's windy, a 4" swimbait like...

NRX+ 901S SJR - What are you main uses for this rod? Comparisons to other rods.
Hey guys. I am treating myself to a high-end rod and I am leaning towards the 901 NRX+ as my #1 Ned rig rod. I only use a 1/16 and 3/32 Ned jigs which fits nicely in the 901 lure range. I prefer longer rods so I am not considering the 821 and the other rod I looked at was the 902 NRX+ but I already ...

Re: Brand Loyalty?
It's more brand "trust" for me, and over the years the list of brands I trust has grown and a couple have fallen off the list. Great point. I have primarily Daiwa reels because they have proven to be high performers and reliable over the years. I have had a few Shimano reels over the years and they...
Re: Shoes?
For maximum comfort while fishing from a bass boat wear the most plush cushioning running shoes you have. I used to wear retired running shoes, Keen sandals, or lightweight hiking boots in the boat till one day I ended up wearing my uber-comfortable Hoka Bondi. What a difference!! So whatever your r...

Re: Which State would you choose?
I'll be buying a second home in Northern Michigan in about 5 years and plan to spend my golden years there after I retire. We've been taking family vacations to the Traverse City area for over 10 years now and the entire family loves the area. More importantly, my wife is on board with downsizing ou...

Re: What is your primary line setup?
Spinning: Braid + fluoro leader
Casting is more complicated.
Dropshot: Braid + fluoro leader
Pitching, plastics, jigs, jerkbaits, crankbaits: straight fluoro
Topwater: Mono
Frogs and punching: braid
Chatterbaits/spinnerbaits and A-Rigs: Copolymer

Re: Suggestions for a Casting Dropshot Rod
Thanks fellas for the suggestions. That 892 sounds good about what I'm looking for. I like longer rods. I already have a 843 GLX and I absolutely love it. I'll have to see if I can find a 892 locally.

Suggestions for a Casting Dropshot Rod
Looking to upgrade from my Dobyns HP 742c with something high-end along the lines of a Destroyer, GLX/NRX, or Steez. I do a lot of pitching breakwalls which is why I use a baitcasting setup for dropshots. I'll be putting my Curado 70 on the rod. A 3/8th oz sinker is what I use 80% of the time. Thank...

Re: Dedicated Rods
I think in a lot of cases people have dedicated rods because of what they use the most. In most cases rods can be used with several types of presentation but we dedicate them to one presentation because of our confidence presentations and where we fish. With that said here are my dedicated rods that...

Went ahead and finally pulled the trigger on the 761. Looking forward to seeing how it compares with the 1st generation. Now to sell one of my Dobyns.

Re: Ygk G-soul Upgrade vs Ss112
I almost never break off. I had four in one night with the G-Soul. I switched knots to no avail. I don't think it liked being fished around boulders and rough concrete. I have never had issues with other braids though. There are several variables that come into play. Maybe the line had microscopic ...

Re: Braid to Leader - what's your knot of choice?
I've gone back to Alberto after going through Seider's recommended doubled Alberto, the Seaguar Knot, and the FG Knot. The Alberto is easy to tie, small enough, and is STRONG.

Re: Questions about motor guide trolling motors
My Motorguide Xi5's spotlock has been excellent. I've had the motor for 6 years. By far the worst part of the motor is the pedal. I'm on my 3rd pedal. Some people complain about using the pedal which I've had no issues with. Some people only use the remote which rarely ever use. Even knowing what I ...
